GNT 1 "Make an altar out of acacia wood, for burning incense. NIV 1 "Make an altar of acacia wood for burning incense. GNT 2 It is to be square, 18 inches long and 18 inches wide, and it is to be 36 inches high. Its projections at the four corners are to form one piece with it. NIV 2 It is to be square, a cubit long and a cubit wide, and two cubits high--its horns of one piece with it. GNT 3 Cover its top, all four sides, and its projections with pure gold, and put a gold border around it. NIV 3 Overlay the top and all the sides and the horns with pure gold, and make a gold molding around it. GNT 4 Make two gold carrying rings for it and attach them below the border on two sides to hold the poles with which it is to be carried. NIV 4 Make two gold rings for the altar below the molding--two on opposite sides--to hold the poles used to carry it. GNT 5 Make these poles of acacia wood and cover them with gold. NIV 5 Make the poles of acacia wood and overlay them with gold. GNT 6 Put this altar outside the curtain which hangs in front of the Covenant Box. That is the place where I will meet you. NIV 6 Put the altar in front of the curtain that is before the ark of the Testimony--before the atonement cover that is over the Testimony--where I will meet with you. GNT 7 Every morning when Aaron comes to take care of the lamps, he is to burn sweet-smelling incense on it. NIV 7 "Aaron must burn fragrant incense on the altar every morning when he tends the lamps. GNT 8 He must do the same when he lights the lamps in the evening. This offering of incense is to continue without interruption for all time to come. NIV 8 He must burn incense again when he lights the lamps at twilight so incense will burn regularly before the LORD for the generations to come. GNT 9 Do not offer on this altar any forbidden incense, any animal offering, or any grain offering, and do not pour out any wine offering on it. NIV 9 Do not offer on this altar any other incense or any burnt offering or grain offering, and do not pour a drink offering on it. GNT 10 Once a year Aaron is to perform the ritual for purifying the altar by putting on its four projections the blood of the animal sacrificed for sin. This is to be done every year for all time to come. This altar is to be completely holy, dedicated to me, the Lord." NIV 10 Once a year Aaron shall make atonement on its horns. This annual atonement must be made with the blood of the atoning sin offering for the generations to come. It is most holy to the LORD." GNT 11 The Lord said to Moses, NIV 11 Then the LORD said to Moses, GNT 12 "When you take a census of the people of Israel, each man is to pay me a price for his life, so that no disaster will come on him while the census is being taken. NIV 12 "When you take a census of the Israelites to count them, each one must pay the LORD a ransom for his life at the time he is counted. Then no plague will come on them when you number them. GNT 13 Everyone included in the census must pay the required amount of money, weighed according to the official standard. Everyone must pay this as an offering to me. NIV 13 Each one who crosses over to those already counted is to give a half shekel, according to the sanctuary shekel, which weighs twenty gerahs. This half shekel is an offering to the LORD. GNT 14 Everyone being counted in the census, that is, every man twenty years old or older, is to pay me this amount. NIV 14 All who cross over, those twenty years old or more, are to give an offering to the LORD. GNT 15 The rich man is not to pay more, nor the poor man less, when they pay this amount for their lives. NIV 15 The rich are not to give more than a half shekel and the poor are not to give less when you make the offering to the LORD to atone for your lives. GNT 16 Collect this money from the people of Israel and spend it for the upkeep of the Tent of my presence. This tax will be the payment for their lives, and I will remember to protect them." NIV 16 Receive the atonement money from the Israelites and use it for the service of the Tent of Meeting. It will be a memorial for the Israelites before the LORD, making atonement for your lives." GNT 17 The Lord said to Moses, NIV 17 Then the LORD said to Moses, GNT 18 "Make a bronze basin with a bronze base. Place it between the Tent and the altar, and put water in it. NIV 18 "Make a bronze basin, with its bronze stand, for washing. Place it between the Tent of Meeting and the altar, and put water in it. GNT 19 Aaron and his sons are to use the water to wash their hands and feet NIV 19 Aaron and his sons are to wash their hands and feet with water from it. GNT 20 before they go into the Tent or approach the altar to offer the food offering. Then they will not be killed. NIV 20 Whenever they enter the Tent of Meeting, they shall wash with water so that they will not die. Also, when they approach the altar to minister by presenting an offering made to the LORD by fire, GNT 21 They must wash their hands and feet, so that they will not die. This is a rule which they and their descendants are to observe forever." NIV 21 they shall wash their hands and feet so that they will not die. This is to be a lasting ordinance for Aaron and his descendants for the generations to come." GNT 22 The Lord said to Moses, NIV 22 Then the LORD said to Moses, GNT 23 "Take the finest spices - 12 pounds of liquid myrrh, 6 pounds of sweet-smelling cinnamon, 6 pounds of sweet-smelling cane, NIV 23 "Take the following fine spices: 500 shekels of liquid myrrh, half as much (that is, 250 shekels) of fragrant cinnamon, 250 shekels of fragrant cane, GNT 24 and 12 pounds of cassia (all weighed according to the official standard). Add one gallon of olive oil, NIV 24 500 shekels of cassia--all according to the sanctuary shekel--and a hin of olive oil. GNT 25 and make a sacred anointing oil, mixed like perfume. NIV 25 Make these into a sacred anointing oil, a fragrant blend, the work of a perfumer. It will be the sacred anointing oil. GNT 26 Use it to anoint the Tent of my presence, the Covenant Box, NIV 26 Then use it to anoint the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony, GNT 27 the table and all its equipment, the lampstand and its equipment, the altar for burning incense, NIV 27 the table and all its articles, the lampstand and its accessories, the altar of incense, GNT 28 the altar for burning offerings, together with all its equipment, and the washbasin with its base. NIV 28 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, and the basin with its stand. GNT 29 Dedicate these things in this way, and they will be completely holy, and anyone or anything that touches them will be harmed by the power of its holiness. NIV 29 You shall consecrate them so they will be most holy, and whatever touches them will be holy. GNT 30 Then anoint Aaron and his sons, and ordain them as priests in my service. NIV 30 "Anoint Aaron and his sons and consecrate them so they may serve me as priests. GNT 31 Say to the people of Israel, "This holy anointing oil is to be used in my service for all time to come. NIV 31 Say to the Israelites, 'This is to be my sacred anointing oil for the generations to come. GNT 32 It must not be poured on ordinary men, and you must not use the same formula to make any mixture like it. It is holy, and you must treat it as holy. NIV 32 Do not pour it on men's bodies and do not make any oil with the same formula. It is sacred, and you are to consider it sacred. GNT 33 Whoever makes any like it or uses any of it on anyone who is not a priest will no longer be considered one of my people.' " NIV 33 Whoever makes perfume like it and whoever puts it on anyone other than a priest must be cut off from his people.' " GNT 34 The Lord said to Moses, "Take an equal part of each of the following sweet spices - stacte, onycha, galbanum, and pure frankincense. NIV 34 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Take fragrant spices--gum resin, onycha and galbanum--and pure frankincense, all in equal amounts, GNT 35 Use them to make incense, mixed like perfume. Add salt to keep it pure and holy. NIV 35 and make a fragrant blend of incense, the work of a perfumer. It is to be salted and pure and sacred. NIV 36 Grind some of it to powder and place it in front of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, where I will meet with you. It shall be most holy to you. GNT 37 Do not use the same formula to make any incense like it for yourselves. Treat it as a holy thing dedicated to me. NIV 37 Do not make any incense with this formula for yourselves; consider it holy to the LORD. GNT 38 If anyone makes any like it for use as perfume, he will no longer be considered one of my people." NIV 38 Whoever makes any like it to enjoy its fragrance must be cut off from his people."
