Exodus 31

ASV 1 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, NIV 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, ASV 2 See, I have called by name Bezalel the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah: NIV 2 "See, I have chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, ASV 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, in wisdom, and in understanding, and in knowledge, and in all manner of workmanship, NIV 3 and I have filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- ASV 4 to devise skilful works, to work in gold, and in silver, and in brass, NIV 4 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, ASV 5 and in cutting of stones for setting, and in carving of wood, to work in all manner of workmanship. NIV 5 to cut and set stones, to work in wood, and to engage in all kinds of craftsmanship. ASV 6 And I, behold, I have appointed with him Oholiab, the son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan; and in the heart of all that are wise-hearted I have put wisdom, that they may make all that I have commanded thee: NIV 6 Moreover, I have appointed Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, to help him. Also I have given skill to all the craftsmen to make everything I have commanded you: ASV 7 the tent of meeting, and the ark of the testimony, and the mercy-seat that is thereupon, and all the furniture of the Tent, NIV 7 the Tent of Meeting, the ark of the Testimony with the atonement cover on it, and all the other furnishings of the tent-- ASV 8 and the table and its vessels, and the pure candlestick with all its vessels, and the altar of incense, NIV 8 the table and its articles, the pure gold lampstand and all its accessories, the altar of incense, ASV 9 and the altar of burnt-offering with all its vessels, and the laver and its base, NIV 9 the altar of burnt offering and all its utensils, the basin with its stand-- ASV 10 and the finely wrought garments, and the holy garments for Aaron the priest, and the garments of his sons, to minister in the priest's office, NIV 10 and also the woven garments, both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests, ASV 11 and the anointing oil, and the incense of sweet spices for the holy place: according to all that I have commanded thee shall they do. NIV 11 and the anointing oil and fragrant incense for the Holy Place. They are to make them just as I commanded you." ASV 12 And Jehovah spake unto Moses, saying, NIV 12 Then the LORD said to Moses, ASV 13 Speak thou also unto the children of Israel, saying, Verily ye shall keep my sabbaths: for it is a sign between me and you throughout your generations; that ye may know that I am Jehovah who sanctifieth you. NIV 13 "Say to the Israelites, 'You must observe my Sabbaths. This will be a sign between me and you for the generations to come, so you may know that I am the LORD, who makes you holy. ASV 14 Ye shall keep the sabbath therefore; for it is holy unto you: every one that profaneth it shall surely be put to death; for whosoever doeth any work therein, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. NIV 14 " 'Observe the Sabbath, because it is holy to you. Anyone who desecrates it must be put to death; whoever does any work on that day must be cut off from his people. ASV 15 Six days shall work be done, but on the seventh day is a sabbath of solemn rest, holy to Jehovah: whosoever doeth any work on the sabbath day, he shall surely be put to death. NIV 15 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, holy to the LORD. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day must be put to death. ASV 16 Wherefore the children of Israel shall keep the sabbath, to observe the sabbath throughout their generations, for a perpetual covenant. NIV 16 The Israelites are to observe the Sabbath, celebrating it for the generations to come as a lasting covenant. ASV 17 It is a sign between me and the children of Israel for ever: for in six days Jehovah made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested, and was refreshed. NIV 17 It will be a sign between me and the Israelites forever, for in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, and on the seventh day he abstained from work and rested.' " ASV 18 And he gave unto Moses, when he had made an end of communing with him upon mount Sinai, the two tables of the testimony, tables of stone, written with the finger of God. NIV 18 When the LORD finished speaking to Moses on Mount Sinai, he gave him the two tablets of the Testimony, the tablets of stone inscribed by the finger of God.
