Exodus 35

CJB 1 Moshe assembled the whole community of the people of Isra'el and said to them, "These are the things which ADONAI has ordered you to do. NIV 1 Moses assembled the whole Israelite community and said to them, "These are the things the LORD has commanded you to do: CJB 2 On six days work is to be done, but the seventh day is to be a holy day for you, a Shabbat of complete rest in honor of ADONAI. Whoever does any work on it is to be put to death. NIV 2 For six days, work is to be done, but the seventh day shall be your holy day, a Sabbath of rest to the LORD. Whoever does any work on it must be put to death. CJB 3 You are not to kindle a fire in any of your homes on Shabbat." NIV 3 Do not light a fire in any of your dwellings on the Sabbath day." CJB 4 Moshe said to the whole community of the people of Isra'el, "Here is what ADONAI has ordered: NIV 4 Moses said to the whole Israelite community, "This is what the LORD has commanded: CJB 5 'Take up a collection for ADONAI from among yourselves -anyone whose heart makes him willing is to bring the offering for ADONAI: gold, silver and bronze; NIV 5 From what you have, take an offering for the LORD. Everyone who is willing is to bring to the LORD an offering of gold, silver and bronze; CJB 6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn; fine linen, goat's hair, NIV 6 blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen; goat hair; CJB 7 tanned ram skins and fine leather; acacia-wood; NIV 7 ram skins dyed red and hides of sea cows; acacia wood; CJB 8 oil for the light, spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; NIV 8 olive oil for the light; spices for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense; CJB 9 onyx stones and stones to be set, for the ritual vest and the breastplate. NIV 9 and onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. CJB 10 "'Then let all the craftsmen among you come and make everything ADONAI has ordered: NIV 10 "All who are skilled among you are to come and make everything the LORD has commanded: CJB 11 the tabernacle with its tent, covering, fasteners, planks, crossbars, posts and sockets; NIV 11 the tabernacle with its tent and its covering, clasps, frames, crossbars, posts and bases; CJB 12 the ark with its poles, ark-cover and the curtain to screen it; NIV 12 the ark with its poles and the atonement cover and the curtain that shields it; CJB 13 the table with its poles, all its utensils and the showbread; NIV 13 the table with its poles and all its articles and the bread of the Presence; CJB 14 the menorah for the light, with its utensils and lamps, and the oil for the light; NIV 14 the lampstand that is for light with its accessories, lamps and oil for the light; CJB 15 the incense altar with its poles; the anointing oil; the fragrant incense; the screen for the entranceway at the entrance to the tabernacle; NIV 15 the altar of incense with its poles, the anointing oil and the fragrant incense; the curtain for the doorway at the entrance to the tabernacle; CJB 16 the altar for burnt offerings, with its poles and all its utensils; the basin with its base; NIV 16 the altar of burnt offering with its bronze grating, its poles and all its utensils; the bronze basin with its stand; CJB 17 the tapestries for the courtyard, with their posts and sockets; the screen for the gateway of the courtyard; NIV 17 the curtains of the courtyard with its posts and bases, and the curtain for the entrance to the courtyard; CJB 18 the tent pegs for the tabernacle; the tent pegs for the courtyard, with their ropes; NIV 18 the tent pegs for the tabernacle and for the courtyard, and their ropes; CJB 19 the garments for officiating, for serving in the Holy Place; and the holy garments for Aharon the cohen and the garments for his sons, so that they can serve in the office of cohen.'" NIV 19 the woven garments worn for ministering in the sanctuary--both the sacred garments for Aaron the priest and the garments for his sons when they serve as priests." CJB 20 Then the whole community of the people of Isra'el withdrew from Moshe's presence; NIV 20 Then the whole Israelite community withdrew from Moses' presence, CJB 21 and they came, everyone whose heart stirred him and everyone whose spirit made him willing, and brought ADONAI's offering for the work on the tent of meeting, for the service in it and for the holy garments. NIV 21 and everyone who was willing and whose heart moved him came and brought an offering to the LORD for the work on the Tent of Meeting, for all its service, and for the sacred garments. CJB 22 Both men and women came, as many as had willing hearts; they brought nose-rings, earrings, signet-rings, belts, all kinds of gold jewelry - everyone bringing an offering of gold to ADONAI. NIV 22 All who were willing, men and women alike, came and brought gold jewelry of all kinds: brooches, earrings, rings and ornaments. They all presented their gold as a wave offering to the LORD. CJB 23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn; fine linen; tanned ram skins or fine leather brought them. NIV 23 Everyone who had blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen, or goat hair, ram skins dyed red or hides of sea cows brought them. CJB 24 Everyone contributing silver or bronze brought his offering for ADONAI, and everyone who had acacia-wood suitable for any of the work brought it. NIV 24 Those presenting an offering of silver or bronze brought it as an offering to the LORD, and everyone who had acacia wood for any part of the work brought it. CJB 25 All the women who were skilled at spinning got to work and brought what they had spun, the blue, purple and scarlet yarn and the fine linen. NIV 25 Every skilled woman spun with her hands and brought what she had spun--blue, purple or scarlet yarn or fine linen. CJB 26 Likewise the women whose heart stirred them to use their skill spun the goat's hair. NIV 26 And all the women who were willing and had the skill spun the goat hair. CJB 27 The leaders brought the onyx stones and the stones to be set, for the ritual vest and the breasplate; NIV 27 The leaders brought onyx stones and other gems to be mounted on the ephod and breastpiece. CJB 28 the spices; and the oil for the light, for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. NIV 28 They also brought spices and olive oil for the light and for the anointing oil and for the fragrant incense. CJB 29 Thus every man and woman of the people of Isra'el whose heart impelled him to contribute to any of the work ADONAI had ordered through Moshe brought it to ADONAI as a voluntary offering. NIV 29 All the Israelite men and women who were willing brought to the LORD freewill offerings for all the work the LORD through Moses had commanded them to do. CJB 30 Moshe said to the people of Isra'el, "See, ADONAI has singled out B'tzal'el the son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Y'hudah. NIV 30 Then Moses said to the Israelites, "See, the LORD has chosen Bezalel son of Uri, the son of Hur, of the tribe of Judah, CJB 31 He has filled him with the Spirit of God -with wisdom, understanding and knowledge concerning every kind of artisanry. NIV 31 and he has filled him with the Spirit of God, with skill, ability and knowledge in all kinds of crafts-- CJB 32 He is a master of design in gold, silver, bronze, NIV 32 to make artistic designs for work in gold, silver and bronze, CJB 33 cutting precious stones to be set, woodcarving and every other craft. NIV 33 to cut and set stones, to work in wood and to engage in all kinds of artistic craftsmanship. CJB 34 [ADONAI] has also given him and Oholi'av the son of Achisamakh, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. NIV 34 And he has given both him and Oholiab son of Ahisamach, of the tribe of Dan, the ability to teach others. CJB 35 He has filled them with the skill needed for every kind of work, whether done by an artisan, a designer, an embroiderer using blue, purple and scarlet yarn, and fine linen, or a weaver - they have the skill for every kind of work and design. NIV 35 He has filled them with skill to do all kinds of work as craftsmen, designers, embroiderers in blue, purple and scarlet yarn and fine linen, and weavers--all of them master craftsmen and designers.
