Exodus 6

WBT 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, Now shalt thou see what I will do to Pharaoh; for with a strong hand shall he let them go, and with a strong hand shall he drive them from his land. NIV 1 Then the LORD said to Moses, "Now you will see what I will do to Pharaoh: Because of my mighty hand he will let them go; because of my mighty hand he will drive them out of his country." WBT 2 And God spoke to Moses, and said to him, I [am] the LORD: NIV 2 God also said to Moses, "I am the LORD. WBT 3 And I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, by [the name of] God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them. NIV 3 I appeared to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob as God Almighty, but by my name the LORD I did not make myself known to them. WBT 4 And I have also established my covenant with them, to give them the land of Canaan, the land of their pilgrimage, in which they were strangers. NIV 4 I also established my covenant with them to give them the land of Canaan, where they lived as aliens. WBT 5 And I have also heard the groaning of the children of Israel, whom the Egyptians keep in bondage: and I have remembered my covenant. NIV 5 Moreover, I have heard the groaning of the Israelites, whom the Egyptians are enslaving, and I have remembered my covenant. WBT 6 Wherefore say to the children of Israel, I [am] the LORD, and I will bring you from under the burdens of the Egyptians, and I will deliver you from their bondage, and I will redeem you with out-stretched arm, and with great judgments: NIV 6 "Therefore, say to the Israelites: 'I am the LORD, and I will bring you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. I will free you from being slaves to them, and I will redeem you with an outstretched arm and with mighty acts of judgment. WBT 7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I [am] the LORD your God, who bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. NIV 7 I will take you as my own people, and I will be your God. Then you will know that I am the LORD your God, who brought you out from under the yoke of the Egyptians. WBT 8 And I will bring you into the land, concerning which I swore to give it to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob; and I will give it to you for a heritage: I [am] the LORD. NIV 8 And I will bring you to the land I swore with uplifted hand to give to Abraham, to Isaac and to Jacob. I will give it to you as a possession. I am the LORD.' " WBT 9 And Moses spoke so to the children of Israel: but they hearkened not to Moses, by reason of anguish of spirit, and cruel bondage. NIV 9 Moses reported this to the Israelites, but they did not listen to him because of their discouragement and cruel bondage. WBT 10 And the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, NIV 10 Then the LORD said to Moses, WBT 11 Go in, speak to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, that he let the children of Israel depart from his land. NIV 11 "Go, tell Pharaoh king of Egypt to let the Israelites go out of his country." WBT 12 And Moses spoke before the LORD, saying, Behold, the children of Israel have not hearkened to me; how then shall Pharaoh hear me, who [am] of uncircumcised lips? NIV 12 But Moses said to the LORD, "If the Israelites will not listen to me, why would Pharaoh listen to me, since I speak with faltering lips ?" WBT 13 And the LORD spoke to Moses, and to Aaron, and gave them a charge to the children of Israel, and to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to bring the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt. NIV 13 Now the LORD spoke to Moses and Aaron about the Israelites and Pharaoh king of Egypt, and he commanded them to bring the Israelites out of Egypt. WBT 14 These [are] the heads of their father's houses: The sons of Reuben the first-born of Israel; Hanoch, and Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi: these [are] the families of Reuben. NIV 14 These were the heads of their families: The sons of Reuben the firstborn son of Israel were Hanoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. These were the clans of Reuben. WBT 15 And the sons of Simeon; Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanitish woman: these [are] the families of Simeon. NIV 15 The sons of Simeon were Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. These were the clans of Simeon. WBT 16 And these [are] the names of the sons of Levi, according to their generations; Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari. And the years of the life of Levi [were] a hundred and thirty-seven years. NIV 16 These were the names of the sons of Levi according to their records: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. Levi lived 137 years. WBT 17 The sons of Gershon; Libni, and Shimi, according to their families. NIV 17 The sons of Gershon, by clans, were Libni and Shimei. WBT 18 And the sons of Kohath; Amram, and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel: and the years of the life of Kohath [were] a hundred and thirty-three years. NIV 18 The sons of Kohath were Amram, Izhar, Hebron and Uzziel. Kohath lived 133 years. WBT 19 And the sons of Merari; Mahali and Mushi: these [are] the families of Levi, according to their generations. NIV 19 The sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These were the clans of Levi according to their records. WBT 20 And Amram took him Jochebed, his father's sister, for a wife; and she bore him Aaron and Moses. And the years of the life of Amram [were] a hundred and thirty-seven years. NIV 20 Amram married his father's sister Jochebed, who bore him Aaron and Moses. Amram lived 137 years. WBT 21 And the sons of Izhar; Korah, and Nepheg, and Zichri. NIV 21 The sons of Izhar were Korah, Nepheg and Zicri. WBT 22 And the sons of Uzziel; Mishael, and Elzaphan, and Zithri. NIV 22 The sons of Uzziel were Mishael, Elzaphan and Sithri. WBT 23 And Aaron took him Elisheba daughter of Amminadab, sister of Naashon, for a wife; and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. NIV 23 Aaron married Elisheba, daughter of Amminadab and sister of Nahshon, and she bore him Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar. WBT 24 And the sons of Korah; Assir, and Elkanah, and Abiasaph: these [are] the families of the Korhites. NIV 24 The sons of Korah were Assir, Elkanah and Abiasaph. These were the Korahite clans. WBT 25 And Eleazar, Aaron's son, took him [one] of the daughters of Putiel for a wife; and she bore to him Phinehas: these [are] the heads of the fathers of the Levites, according to their families. NIV 25 Eleazar son of Aaron married one of the daughters of Putiel, and she bore him Phinehas. These were the heads of the Levite families, clan by clan. WBT 26 These [are] that Aaron and Moses, to whom the LORD said, Bring out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt according to their armies. NIV 26 It was this same Aaron and Moses to whom the LORD said, "Bring the Israelites out of Egypt by their divisions." WBT 27 These [are] they who spoke to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, to bring out the children of Israel from Egypt: these [are] that Moses and Aaron. NIV 27 They were the ones who spoke to Pharaoh king of Egypt about bringing the Israelites out of Egypt. It was the same Moses and Aaron. WBT 28 And it came to pass, on the day [when] the LORD spoke to Moses in the land of Egypt, NIV 28 Now when the LORD spoke to Moses in Egypt, WBT 29 That the LORD spoke to Moses, saying, I [am] the LORD: speak thou to Pharaoh, king of Egypt, all that I say to thee. NIV 29 he said to him, "I am the LORD. Tell Pharaoh king of Egypt everything I tell you." WBT 30 And Moses said before the LORD, Behold, I [am] of uncircumcised lips, and how shall Pharaoh hearken to me? NIV 30 But Moses said to the LORD, "Since I speak with faltering lips, why would Pharaoh listen to me?"
