Ezekiel 11

CSB 1 The Spirit then lifted me up and brought me to the eastern gate of the Lord's house, which faces east, and at the gate's entrance were 25 men. Among them I saw Jaazaniah son of Azzur, and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people. NIV 1 Then the Spirit lifted me up and brought me to the gate of the house of the LORD that faces east. There at the entrance to the gate were twenty-five men, and I saw among them Jaazaniah son of Azzur and Pelatiah son of Benaiah, leaders of the people. CSB 2 The Lord said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who plan evil and give wicked advice in this city. NIV 2 The LORD said to me, "Son of man, these are the men who are plotting evil and giving wicked advice in this city. CSB 3 They are saying: Isn't the time near to build houses? The city is the pot, and we are the meat. NIV 3 They say, 'Will it not soon be time to build houses? This city is a cooking pot, and we are the meat.' CSB 4 Therefore, prophesy against them. Prophesy, son of man!" NIV 4 Therefore prophesy against them; prophesy, son of man." CSB 5 Then the Spirit of the Lord came on me, and He told me, "You are to say: This is what the Lord says: That is what you are thinking, house of Israel; and I know the thoughts that arise in your mind. NIV 5 Then the Spirit of the LORD came upon me, and he told me to say: "This is what the LORD says: That is what you are saying, O house of Israel, but I know what is going through your mind. CSB 6 You have multiplied your slain in this city, filling its streets with the dead. NIV 6 You have killed many people in this city and filled its streets with the dead. CSB 7 "Therefore, this is what the Lord God says: The slain you have put within it are the meat, and the city is the pot, but I will remove you from it. NIV 7 "Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: The bodies you have thrown there are the meat and this city is the pot, but I will drive you out of it. CSB 8 You fear the sword, so I will bring the sword against you." [This is] the declaration of the Lord God . NIV 8 You fear the sword, and the sword is what I will bring against you, declares the Sovereign LORD. CSB 9 "I will bring you out of the city and hand you over to foreigners; I will execute judgments against you. NIV 9 I will drive you out of the city and hand you over to foreigners and inflict punishment on you. CSB 10 You will fall by the sword, and I will judge you at the border of Israel. Then you will know that I am the Lord. NIV 10 You will fall by the sword, and I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. Then you will know that I am the LORD. CSB 11 The city will not be a pot for you, and you will not be the meat within it. I will judge you at the border of Israel, NIV 11 This city will not be a pot for you, nor will you be the meat in it; I will execute judgment on you at the borders of Israel. CSB 12 so you will know that I am the Lord, whose statutes you have not followed and whose ordinances you have not practiced. Instead, you have acted according to the ordinances of the nations around you." NIV 12 And you will know that I am the LORD, for you have not followed my decrees or kept my laws but have conformed to the standards of the nations around you." CSB 13 Now while I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out with a loud voice: "Ah, Lord God ! Will You bring to an end the remnant of Israel?" NIV 13 Now as I was prophesying, Pelatiah son of Benaiah died. Then I fell facedown and cried out in a loud voice, "Ah, Sovereign LORD! Will you completely destroy the remnant of Israel?" CSB 14 The word of the Lord came to me again: NIV 14 The word of the LORD came to me: CSB 15 "Son of man, your own relatives, those who have the right to redeem you,and the entire house of Israel, all of them, are those the residents of Jerusalem have said this to: Stay away from the Lord; this land has been given to us as a possession. NIV 15 "Son of man, your brothers--your brothers who are your blood relatives and the whole house of Israel--are those of whom the people of Jerusalem have said, 'They are far away from the LORD; this land was given to us as our possession.' CSB 16 "Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: Though I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone. NIV 16 "Therefore say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Although I sent them far away among the nations and scattered them among the countries, yet for a little while I have been a sanctuary for them in the countries where they have gone.' CSB 17 "Therefore say: This is what the Lord God says: I will gather you from the peoples and assemble you from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you the land of Israel. NIV 17 "Therefore say: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: I will gather you from the nations and bring you back from the countries where you have been scattered, and I will give you back the land of Israel again.' CSB 18 "When they arrive there, they will remove all its detestable things and all its abominations from it. NIV 18 "They will return to it and remove all its vile images and detestable idols. CSB 19 And I will give them one heart and put a new spirit within them; I will remove their heart of stone from their bodies and give them a heart of flesh, NIV 19 I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. CSB 20 so they may follow My statutes, keep My ordinances, and practice them. Then they will be My people, and I will be their God. NIV 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God. CSB 21 But as for those whose hearts pursue their desire for detestable things and abominations, I will bring their actions down on their own heads." [This is] the declaration of the Lord God . NIV 21 But as for those whose hearts are devoted to their vile images and detestable idols, I will bring down on their own heads what they have done, declares the Sovereign LORD."
