Ezekiel 18:1-6

NAS 1 Then the word of the LORD came to me, saying, NIV 1 The word of the LORD came to me: NAS 2 "What do you mean by using this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, 'The fathers eat the sour grapes, But the children's teeth are set on edge '? NIV 2 "What do you people mean by quoting this proverb about the land of Israel: " 'The fathers eat sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge'? NAS 3 "As I live," declares the Lord GOD, "you are surely not going to use this proverb in Israel anymore. NIV 3 "As surely as I live, declares the Sovereign LORD, you will no longer quote this proverb in Israel. NAS 4 "Behold, all souls are Mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is Mine. The soul who sins will die. NIV 4 For every living soul belongs to me, the father as well as the son--both alike belong to me. The soul who sins is the one who will die. NAS 5 "But if a man is righteous and practices justice and righteousness, NIV 5 "Suppose there is a righteous man who does what is just and right.
