Ezekiel 37:1-14

NRS 1 The hand of the Lord came upon me, and he brought me out by the spirit of the Lord and set me down in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. NIV 1 The hand of the LORD was upon me, and he brought me out by the Spirit of the LORD and set me in the middle of a valley; it was full of bones. NRS 2 He led me all around them; there were very many lying in the valley, and they were very dry. NIV 2 He led me back and forth among them, and I saw a great many bones on the floor of the valley, bones that were very dry. NRS 3 He said to me, "Mortal, can these bones live?" I answered, "O Lord God, you know." NIV 3 He asked me, "Son of man, can these bones live?" I said, "O Sovereign LORD, you alone know." NRS 4 Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones, and say to them: O dry bones, hear the word of the Lord. NIV 4 Then he said to me, "Prophesy to these bones and say to them, 'Dry bones, hear the word of the LORD! NRS 5 Thus says the Lord God to these bones: I will cause breath to enter you, and you shall live. NIV 5 This is what the Sovereign LORD says to these bones: I will make breath enter you, and you will come to life. NRS 6 I will lay sinews on you, and will cause flesh to come upon you, and cover you with skin, and put breath in you, and you shall live; and you shall know that I am the Lord." NIV 6 I will attach tendons to you and make flesh come upon you and cover you with skin; I will put breath in you, and you will come to life. Then you will know that I am the LORD.' " NRS 7 So I prophesied as I had been commanded; and as I prophesied, suddenly there was a noise, a rattling, and the bones came together, bone to its bone. NIV 7 So I prophesied as I was commanded. And as I was prophesying, there was a noise, a rattling sound, and the bones came together, bone to bone. NRS 8 I looked, and there were sinews on them, and flesh had come upon them, and skin had covered them; but there was no breath in them. NIV 8 I looked, and tendons and flesh appeared on them and skin covered them, but there was no breath in them. NRS 9 Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath, prophesy, mortal, and say to the breath: Thus says the Lord God: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe upon these slain, that they may live." NIV 9 Then he said to me, "Prophesy to the breath; prophesy, son of man, and say to it, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: Come from the four winds, O breath, and breathe into these slain, that they may live.' " NRS 10 I prophesied as he commanded me, and the breath came into them, and they lived, and stood on their feet, a vast multitude. NIV 10 So I prophesied as he commanded me, and breath entered them; they came to life and stood up on their feet--a vast army. NRS 11 Then he said to me, "Mortal, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, "Our bones are dried up, and our hope is lost; we are cut off completely.' NIV 11 Then he said to me: "Son of man, these bones are the whole house of Israel. They say, 'Our bones are dried up and our hope is gone; we are cut off.' NRS 12 Therefore prophesy, and say to them, Thus says the Lord God: I am going to open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people; and I will bring you back to the land of Israel. NIV 12 Therefore prophesy and say to them: 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: O my people, I am going to open your graves and bring you up from them; I will bring you back to the land of Israel. NRS 13 And you shall know that I am the Lord, when I open your graves, and bring you up from your graves, O my people. NIV 13 Then you, my people, will know that I am the LORD, when I open your graves and bring you up from them. NRS 14 I will put my spirit within you, and you shall live, and I will place you on your own soil; then you shall know that I, the Lord, have spoken and will act, says the Lord." NIV 14 I will put my Spirit in you and you will live, and I will settle you in your own land. Then you will know that I the LORD have spoken, and I have done it, declares the LORD.' "
