Galatians 1

RHE 1 Paul, an apostle, not of men, neither by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead: NIV 1 Paul, an apostle--sent not from men nor by man, but by Jesus Christ and God the Father, who raised him from the dead-- RHE 2 And all the brethren who are with me: to the churches of Galatia. NIV 2 and all the brothers with me, To the churches in Galatia: RHE 3 Grace be to you, and peace from God the Father and from our Lord Jesus Christ, NIV 3 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ, RHE 4 Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present wicked world, according to the will of God and our Father: NIV 4 who gave himself for our sins to rescue us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father, RHE 5 To whom is glory for ever and ever. Amen. NIV 5 to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. RHE 6 I wonder that you are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ, unto another gospel. NIV 6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting the one who called you by the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel-- RHE 7 Which is not another: only there are some that trouble you and would pervert the gospel of Christ. NIV 7 which is really no gospel at all. Evidently some people are throwing you into confusion and are trying to pervert the gospel of Christ. RHE 8 But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach a gospel to you besides that which we have preached to you, let him be anathema. NIV 8 But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! RHE 9 As we said before, so now I say again: If any one preach to you a gospel, besides that which you have received, let him be anathema. NIV 9 As we have already said, so now I say again: If anybody is preaching to you a gospel other than what you accepted, let him be eternally condemned! RHE 10 For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. NIV 10 Am I now trying to win the approval of men, or of God? Or am I trying to please men? If I were still trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ. RHE 11 For I give you to understand, brethren, that the gospel which was preached by me is not according to man. NIV 11 I want you to know, brothers, that the gospel I preached is not something that man made up. RHE 12 For neither did I receive it of man: nor did I learn it but by the revelation of Jesus Christ. NIV 12 I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ. RHE 13 For you have heard of my conversation in time past in the Jews’ religion: how that, beyond measure, I persecuted the church of God and wasted it. NIV 13 For you have heard of my previous way of life in Judaism, how intensely I persecuted the church of God and tried to destroy it. RHE 14 And I made progress in the Jew’s religion above many of my equals in my own nation, being more abundantly zealous for the traditions of my fathers. NIV 14 I was advancing in Judaism beyond many Jews of my own age and was extremely zealous for the traditions of my fathers. RHE 15 But when it pleased him who separated me from my mother’s womb and called me by his grace, NIV 15 But when God, who set me apart from birth and called me by his grace, was pleased RHE 16 To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the Gentiles: immediately I condescended not to flesh and blood. NIV 16 to reveal his Son in me so that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did not consult any man, RHE 17 Neither went I to Jerusalem, to the apostles who were before me: but I went into Arabia, and again I returned to Damascus. NIV 17 nor did I go up to Jerusalem to see those who were apostles before I was, but I went immediately into Arabia and later returned to Damascus. RHE 18 Then, after three years, I went to Jerusalem to see Peter: and I tarried with him fifteen days. NIV 18 Then after three years, I went up to Jerusalem to get acquainted with Peter and stayed with him fifteen days. RHE 19 But other of the apostles I saw none, saving James the brother of the Lord. NIV 19 I saw none of the other apostles--only James, the Lord's brother. RHE 20 Now the things which I write to you, behold, before God, I lie not. NIV 20 I assure you before God that what I am writing you is no lie. RHE 21 Afterwards, I came into the regions of Syria and Cilicia. NIV 21 Later I went to Syria and Cilicia. RHE 22 And I was unknown by face to the churches of Judea, which were in Christ: NIV 22 I was personally unknown to the churches of Judea that are in Christ. RHE 23 But they had heard only: He, who persecuted us in times past doth now preach the faith which once he impugned. NIV 23 They only heard the report: "The man who formerly persecuted us is now preaching the faith he once tried to destroy." RHE 24 And they glorified God in me. NIV 24 And they praised God because of me.
