Galatians 3:1-9

ESV 1 O foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? It was before your eyes that Jesus Christ was publicly portrayed as crucified. NIV 1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? Before your very eyes Jesus Christ was clearly portrayed as crucified. ESV 2 Let me ask you only this: Did you receive the Spirit by works of the law or by hearing with faith? NIV 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? ESV 3 Are you so foolish? Having begun by the Spirit, are you now being perfected by the flesh? NIV 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? ESV 4 Did you suffer so many things in vain--if indeed it was in vain? NIV 4 Have you suffered so much for nothing--if it really was for nothing? ESV 5 Does he who supplies the Spirit to you and works miracles among you do so by works of the law, or by hearing with faith-- NIV 5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? ESV 6 just as Abraham "believed God, and it was counted to him as righteousness"? NIV 6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." ESV 7 Know then that it is those of faith who are the sons of Abraham. NIV 7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham. ESV 8 And the Scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, preached the gospel beforehand to Abraham, saying, "In you shall all the nations be blessed." NIV 8 The Scripture foresaw that God would justify the Gentiles by faith, and announced the gospel in advance to Abraham: "All nations will be blessed through you." ESV 9 So then, those who are of faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith. NIV 9 So those who have faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith.
