Galatians 3:21-29

RSV 21 Is the law then against the promises of God? Certainly not; for if a law had been given which could make alive, then righteousness would indeed be by the law. NIV 21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. RSV 22 But the scripture consigned all things to sin, that what was promised to faith in Jesus Christ might be given to those who believe. NIV 22 But the Scripture declares that the whole world is a prisoner of sin, so that what was promised, being given through faith in Jesus Christ, might be given to those who believe. RSV 23 Now before faith came, we were confined under the law, kept under restraint until faith should be revealed. NIV 23 Before this faith came, we were held prisoners by the law, locked up until faith should be revealed. RSV 24 So that the law was our custodian until Christ came, that we might be justified by faith. NIV 24 So the law was put in charge to lead us to Christ that we might be justified by faith. RSV 25 But now that faith has come, we are no longer under a custodian; NIV 25 Now that faith has come, we are no longer under the supervision of the law. RSV 26 for in Christ Jesus you are all sons of God, through faith. NIV 26 You are all sons of God through faith in Christ Jesus, RSV 27 For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ. NIV 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. RSV 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither slave nor free, there is neither male nor female; for you are all one in Christ Jesus. NIV 28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, slave nor free, male nor female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. RSV 29 And if you are Christ's, then you are Abraham's offspring, heirs according to promise. NIV 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
