HNV 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the eretz. NIV 1 In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. HNV 2 Now the eretz was formless and empty. Darkness was on the surface of the deep. God's Spirit was hovering over the surface of the waters. NIV 2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. HNV 3 God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. NIV 3 And God said, "Let there be light," and there was light. HNV 4 God saw the light, and saw that it was good. God divided the light from the darkness. NIV 4 God saw that the light was good, and he separated the light from the darkness. HNV 5 God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. There was evening and there was morning, one day. NIV 5 God called the light "day," and the darkness he called "night." And there was evening, and there was morning--the first day. HNV 6 God said, "Let there be an expanse in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." NIV 6 And God said, "Let there be an expanse between the waters to separate water from water." HNV 7 God made the expanse, and divided the waters which were under the expanse from the waters which were above the expanse, and it was so. NIV 7 So God made the expanse and separated the water under the expanse from the water above it. And it was so. HNV 8 God called the expanse sky. There was evening and there was morning, a second day. NIV 8 God called the expanse "sky." And there was evening, and there was morning--the second day. HNV 9 God said, "Let the waters under the sky be gathered together to one place, and let the dry land appear," and it was so. NIV 9 And God said, "Let the water under the sky be gathered to one place, and let dry ground appear." And it was so. HNV 10 God called the dry land Eretz, and the gathering together of the waters he called Seas. God saw that it was good. NIV 10 God called the dry ground "land," and the gathered waters he called "seas." And God saw that it was good. HNV 11 God said, "Let the eretz put forth grass, herbs yielding seed, and fruit trees bearing fruit after their kind, with its seed in it, on the eretz," and it was so. NIV 11 Then God said, "Let the land produce vegetation: seed-bearing plants and trees on the land that bear fruit with seed in it, according to their various kinds." And it was so. HNV 12 The eretz brought forth grass, herbs yielding seed after their kind, and trees bearing fruit, with its seed in it, after their kind: and God saw that it was good. NIV 12 The land produced vegetation: plants bearing seed according to their kinds and trees bearing fruit with seed in it according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. HNV 13 There was evening and there was morning, a third day. NIV 13 And there was evening, and there was morning--the third day. HNV 14 God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of sky to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs, and for seasons, and for days and years; NIV 14 And God said, "Let there be lights in the expanse of the sky to separate the day from the night, and let them serve as signs to mark seasons and days and years, HNV 15 and let them be for lights in the expanse of sky to give light on the eretz," and it was so. NIV 15 and let them be lights in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth." And it was so. HNV 16 God made the two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He also made the stars. NIV 16 God made two great lights--the greater light to govern the day and the lesser light to govern the night. He also made the stars. HNV 17 God set them in the expanse of sky to give light to the eretz, NIV 17 God set them in the expanse of the sky to give light on the earth, HNV 18 and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. God saw that it was good. NIV 18 to govern the day and the night, and to separate light from darkness. And God saw that it was good. HNV 19 There was evening and there was morning, a fourth day. NIV 19 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fourth day. HNV 20 God said, "Let the waters swarm with swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the eretz in the open expanse of sky." NIV 20 And God said, "Let the water teem with living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the expanse of the sky." HNV 21 God created the large sea creatures, and every living creature that moves, with which the waters swarmed, after their kind, and every winged bird after its kind. God saw that it was good. NIV 21 So God created the great creatures of the sea and every living and moving thing with which the water teems, according to their kinds, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. HNV 22 God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the eretz." NIV 22 God blessed them and said, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the water in the seas, and let the birds increase on the earth." HNV 23 There was evening and there was morning, a fifth day. NIV 23 And there was evening, and there was morning--the fifth day. HNV 24 God said, "Let the eretz bring forth living creatures after their kind, cattle, creeping things, and animals of the eretz after their kind," and it was so. HNV 25 God made the animals of the eretz after their kind, and the cattle after their kind, and everything that creeps on the ground after its kind. God saw that it was good. NIV 25 God made the wild animals according to their kinds, the livestock according to their kinds, and all the creatures that move along the ground according to their kinds. And God saw that it was good. HNV 26 God said, "Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the birds of the sky, and over the cattle, and over all the eretz, and over every creeping thing that creeps on the eretz." NIV 26 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground." HNV 27 God created man in his own image. In God's image he created him; male and female he created them. NIV 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. HNV 28 God blessed them. God said to them, "Be fruitful, multiply, fill the eretz, and subdue it. Have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the sky, and over every living thing that moves on the eretz." NIV 28 God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it. Rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air and over every living creature that moves on the ground." HNV 29 God said, "Behold, I have given you every herb yielding seed, which is on the surface of all the eretz, and every tree, which bears fruit yielding seed. It will be your food. NIV 29 Then God said, "I give you every seed-bearing plant on the face of the whole earth and every tree that has fruit with seed in it. They will be yours for food. HNV 30 To every animal of the eretz, and to every bird of the sky, and to everything that creeps on the eretz, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food." And it was so. NIV 30 And to all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air and all the creatures that move on the ground--everything that has the breath of life in it--I give every green plant for food." And it was so. HNV 31 God saw everything that he had made, and, behold, it was very good. There was evening and there was morning, the sixth day. NIV 31 God saw all that he had made, and it was very good. And there was evening, and there was morning--the sixth day.
