Genesis 10

DBY 1 And these are the generations of the sons of Noah: Shem, Ham, and Japheth; and to them were sons born after the flood. NIV 1 This is the account of Shem, Ham and Japheth, Noah's sons, who themselves had sons after the flood. DBY 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, and Magog, and Madai, and Javan, and Tubal, and Meshech, and Tiras. NIV 2 The sons of Japheth: Gomer, Magog, Madai, Javan, Tubal, Meshech and Tiras. DBY 3 And the sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah. NIV 3 The sons of Gomer: Ashkenaz, Riphath and Togarmah. DBY 4 And the sons of Javan: Elishah, and Tarshish, Kittim, and Dodanim. NIV 4 The sons of Javan: Elishah, Tarshish, the Kittim and the Rodanim. DBY 5 From these came the distribution of the isles of the nations, according to their lands, every one after his tongue, after their families, in their nations. NIV 5 (From these the maritime peoples spread out into their territories by their clans within their nations, each with its own language.) DBY 6 And the sons of Ham: Cush, and Mizraim, and Phut, and Canaan. NIV 6 The sons of Ham: Cush, Mizraim, Put and Canaan. DBY 7 And the sons of Cush: Seba, and Havilah, and Sabtah, and Raamah, and Sabtecha. And the sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. NIV 7 The sons of Cush: Seba, Havilah, Sabtah, Raamah and Sabteca. The sons of Raamah: Sheba and Dedan. DBY 8 And Cush begot Nimrod: he began to be mighty on the earth. NIV 8 Cush was the father of Nimrod, who grew to be a mighty warrior on the earth. DBY 9 He was a mighty hunter before Jehovah; therefore it is said, As Nimrod, the mighty hunter before Jehovah! NIV 9 He was a mighty hunter before the LORD; that is why it is said, "Like Nimrod, a mighty hunter before the LORD." DBY 10 And the beginning of his kingdom was Babel, and Erech, and Accad, and Calneh, in the land of Shinar. NIV 10 The first centers of his kingdom were Babylon, Erech, Akkad and Calneh, in Shinar. DBY 11 From that land went out Asshur, and built Nineveh, and Rehoboth-Ir, and Calah, NIV 11 From that land he went to Assyria, where he built Nineveh, Rehoboth Ir, Calah DBY 12 and Resen, between Nineveh and Calah: this is the great city. NIV 12 and Resen, which is between Nineveh and Calah; that is the great city. DBY 13 -- And Mizraim begot the Ludim, and the Anamim, and the Lehabim, and the Naphtuhim, NIV 13 Mizraim was the father of the Ludites, Anamites, Lehabites, Naphtuhites, DBY 14 and the Pathrusim, and the Casluhim, out of whom came the Philistines, and the Caphtorim. NIV 14 Pathrusites, Casluhites (from whom the Philistines came) and Caphtorites. DBY 15 -- And Canaan begot Sidon, his firstborn, and Heth, NIV 15 Canaan was the father of Sidon his firstborn, and of the Hittites, DBY 16 and the Jebusite, and the Amorite, and the Girgashite, NIV 16 Jebusites, Amorites, Girgashites, DBY 17 and the Hivite, and the Arkite, and the Sinite, NIV 17 Hivites, Arkites, Sinites, DBY 18 and the Arvadite, and the Zemarite, and the Hamathite. And afterwards the families of the Canaanites spread themselves abroad. NIV 18 Arvadites, Zemarites and Hamathites. Later the Canaanite clans scattered DBY 19 And the border of the Canaanite was from Sidon, as one goes to Gerar, up to Gazah; as one goes to Sodom, and Gomorrah, and Admah, and Zeboim, up to Lesha. NIV 19 and the borders of Canaan reached from Sidon toward Gerar as far as Gaza, and then toward Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah and Zeboiim, as far as Lasha. DBY 20 These are the sons of Ham, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, in their nations. NIV 20 These are the sons of Ham by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. DBY 21 And to Shem -- to him also were [sons] born; he is the father of all the sons of Eber, the brother of Japheth the elder. NIV 21 Sons were also born to Shem, whose older brother was Japheth; Shem was the ancestor of all the sons of Eber. DBY 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, and Asshur, and Arphaxad, and Lud, and Aram. NIV 22 The sons of Shem: Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud and Aram. DBY 23 And the sons of Aram: Uz, and Hul, and Gether, and Mash. NIV 23 The sons of Aram: Uz, Hul, Gether and Meshech. DBY 24 -- And Arphaxad begot Shelah; and Shelah begot Eber. NIV 24 Arphaxad was the father of Shelah, and Shelah the father of Eber. DBY 25 And to Eber were born two sons: the name of the one was Peleg, for in his days was the earth divided; and his brother's name was Joktan. NIV 25 Two sons were born to Eber: One was named Peleg, because in his time the earth was divided; his brother was named Joktan. DBY 26 And Joktan begot Almodad, and Sheleph, and Hazarmaveth, and Jerah, NIV 26 Joktan was the father of Almodad, Sheleph, Hazarmaveth, Jerah, DBY 27 and Hadoram, and Uzal, and Diklah, NIV 27 Hadoram, Uzal, Diklah, DBY 28 and Obal, and Abimael, and Sheba, NIV 28 Obal, Abimael, Sheba, DBY 29 and Ophir, and Havilah, and Jobab: all these were sons of Joktan. NIV 29 Ophir, Havilah and Jobab. All these were sons of Joktan. DBY 30 And their dwelling was from Mesha, as one goes to Sephar, the eastern mountain. NIV 30 The region where they lived stretched from Mesha toward Sephar, in the eastern hill country. DBY 31 These are the sons of Shem, after their families, after their tongues, in their lands, after their nations. NIV 31 These are the sons of Shem by their clans and languages, in their territories and nations. DBY 32 These are the families of the sons of Noah, after their generations, in their nations. And from these came the distribution of the nations on the earth after the flood. NIV 32 These are the clans of Noah's sons, according to their lines of descent, within their nations. From these the nations spread out over the earth after the flood.
