BBE 1 Now these are the generations of Esau, that is to say, Edom. NIV 1 This is the account of Esau (that is, Edom). BBE 2 Esau's wives were women of Canaan: Adah, the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite, NIV 2 Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite-- BBE 3 And Basemath, Ishmael's daughter, the sister of Nebaioth. NIV 3 also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth. BBE 4 Adah had a son Eliphaz; and Basemath was the mother of Reuel; NIV 4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, BBE 5 Oholibamah was the mother of Jeush, Jalam, and Korah; these are the sons of Esau, whose birth took place in the land of Canaan. NIV 5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan. BBE 6 Esau took his wives and his sons and his daughters, and all the people of his house, and his beasts and his cattle and all his goods which he had got together in the land of Canaan, and went into the land of Seir, away from his brother Jacob. NIV 6 Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob. BBE 7 For their wealth was so great that the land was not wide enough for the two of them and all their cattle. NIV 16 Korah, Gatam and Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah. BBE 17 And these are the sons of Esau's son Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah, Mizzah: these were the chiefs of Reuel in the land of Edom, the children of Esau's wife Basemath. NIV 17 The sons of Esau's son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau's wife Basemath. BBE 18 And these are the sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Jeush, Jalam, and Korah: these were the chiefs who came from Esau's wife Oholibamah, daughter of Anah. NIV 18 The sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah. Timna was Lotan's sister. BBE 23 And these are the children of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. NIV 23 The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam. BBE 24 And these are the children of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah; that same Anah who made the discovery of the water-springs in the waste land, when he was looking after the asses of his father Zibeon. NIV 24 The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon. BBE 25 And these are the children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah his daughter. NIV 25 The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah. BBE 31 And these are the kings who were ruling in the land of Edom before there was any king over the children of Israel. NIV 31 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned: BBE 32 Bela, son of Beor, was king in Edom, and the name of his chief town was Dinhabah. NIV 32 Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah. BBE 33 At his death, Jobab, son of Zerah of Bozrah, became king in his place. NIV 33 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king. BBE 34 And at the death of Jobab, Husham, from the country of the Temanites, became king in his place. NIV 34 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king. BBE 35 And at the death of Husham, Hadad, son of Bedad, who overcame the Midianites in the field of Moab, became king; his chief town was named Avith. NIV 35 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith. BBE 36 And at the death of Hadad, Samlah of Masrekah became king. NIV 36 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king. BBE 37 And at the death of Samlah, Shaul of Rehoboth by the River became king in his place. NIV 37 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king. BBE 38 And at the death of Shaul, Baal-hanan, son of Achbor, became king. NIV 38 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Acbor succeeded him as king. BBE 39 And at the death of Baal-hanan, Hadar became king in his place; his chief town was named Pau, and his wife's name was Mehetabel; she was the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-zahab. NIV 39 When Baal-Hanan son of Acbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife's name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. BBE 40 These are the names of the chiefs of Esau in the order of their families and their places: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, NIV 40 These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, BBE 41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, NIV 41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, BBE 42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, NIV 42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, BBE 43 Magdiel, Iram; these are the Edomite chiefs, in their places in their heritage; this is Esau, the father of the Edomites. NIV 43 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This was Esau the father of the Edomites.
