Genesis 36

WBT 1 Now these [are] the generations of Esau, who [is] Edom. NIV 1 This is the account of Esau (that is, Edom). WBT 2 Esau took his wives of the daughters of Canaan; Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite; NIV 2 Esau took his wives from the women of Canaan: Adah daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon the Hivite-- WBT 3 And Bashemath, Ishmael's daughter, sister of Nebajoth. NIV 3 also Basemath daughter of Ishmael and sister of Nebaioth. WBT 4 And Adah bore to Esau, Eliphaz; and Bashemath bore Reuel; NIV 4 Adah bore Eliphaz to Esau, Basemath bore Reuel, WBT 5 And Aholibamah bore Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah: These [are] the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan. NIV 5 and Oholibamah bore Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the sons of Esau, who were born to him in Canaan. WBT 6 And Esau took his wives, and his sons, and his daughters, and all the persons of his house, and his cattle, and all his beasts, and all his substance which he had acquired in the land of Canaan; and went into the country from the face of his brother Jacob. NIV 6 Esau took his wives and sons and daughters and all the members of his household, as well as his livestock and all his other animals and all the goods he had acquired in Canaan, and moved to a land some distance from his brother Jacob. WBT 7 For their riches were more than that they might dwell together: and the land wherein they were strangers could not sustain them, because of their cattle. NIV 7 Their possessions were too great for them to remain together; the land where they were staying could not support them both because of their livestock. WBT 8 Thus dwelt Esau in mount Seir: Esau [is] Edom. NIV 8 So Esau (that is, Edom) settled in the hill country of Seir. WBT 9 And these [are] the generations of Esau the father of the Edomites, in mount Seir: NIV 9 This is the account of Esau the father of the Edomites in the hill country of Seir. WBT 10 These [are] the names of Esau's sons; Eliphaz the son of Adah the wife of Esau, Reuel the son of Bashemath the wife of Esau. NIV 10 These are the names of Esau's sons: Eliphaz, the son of Esau's wife Adah, and Reuel, the son of Esau's wife Basemath. WBT 11 And the sons of Eliphaz were, Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenaz. NIV 11 The sons of Eliphaz: Teman, Omar, Zepho, Gatam and Kenaz. WBT 12 And Timna was concubine to Eliphaz Esau's son; and she bore to Eliphaz Amalek: these [were] the sons of Adah Esau's wife. NIV 12 Esau's son Eliphaz also had a concubine named Timna, who bore him Amalek. These were grandsons of Esau's wife Adah. WBT 13 And these [are] the sons of Reuel; Nahath, and Zerah, Shammah, and Mizzah: these were the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife. NIV 13 The sons of Reuel: Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were grandsons of Esau's wife Basemath. WBT 14 And these were the sons of Aholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon Esau's wife: and she bore to Esau, Jeush, and Jaalam, and Korah. NIV 14 The sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah and granddaughter of Zibeon, whom she bore to Esau: Jeush, Jalam and Korah. WBT 15 These [were] dukes of the sons of Esau: the sons of Eliphaz the first-born [son] of Esau; duke Teman, duke Omar, duke Zepho, duke Kenaz, NIV 15 These were the chiefs among Esau's descendants: The sons of Eliphaz the firstborn of Esau: Chiefs Teman, Omar, Zepho, Kenaz, WBT 16 Duke Korah, duke Gatam, [and] duke Amalek: these [are] the dukes, [descendants] of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom: these [were] the sons of Adah. NIV 16 Korah, Gatam and Amalek. These were the chiefs descended from Eliphaz in Edom; they were grandsons of Adah. WBT 17 And these [are] the sons of Reuel Esau's son; duke Nahath, duke Zerah, duke Shammah, duke Mizzah: these [are] the dukes, [descendants] of Reuel, in the land of Edom: these [are] the sons of Bashemath Esau's wife. NIV 17 The sons of Esau's son Reuel: Chiefs Nahath, Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These were the chiefs descended from Reuel in Edom; they were grandsons of Esau's wife Basemath. WBT 18 And these [are] the sons of Aholibamah Esau's wife; duke Jeush, duke Jaalam, duke Korah: these [were] the dukes, [descendants] of Aholibamah the daughter of Anah Esau's wife. NIV 18 The sons of Esau's wife Oholibamah: Chiefs Jeush, Jalam and Korah. These were the chiefs descended from Esau's wife Oholibamah daughter of Anah. WBT 19 These [are] the sons of Esau (who [is] Edom) and these [are] their dukes. NIV 19 These were the sons of Esau (that is, Edom), and these were their chiefs. WBT 20 These [are] the sons of Seir the Horite, who inhabited the land; Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah. NIV 20 These were the sons of Seir the Horite, who were living in the region: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, WBT 21 And Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan: these [are] the dukes of the Horites, the children of Seir in the land of Edom. NIV 21 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These sons of Seir in Edom were Horite chiefs. WBT 22 And the children of Lotan were Hori, and Heman: and Lotan's sister [was] Timna. NIV 22 The sons of Lotan: Hori and Homam. Timna was Lotan's sister. WBT 23 And the children of Shobal [were] these; Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, Shepho, and Onam. NIV 23 The sons of Shobal: Alvan, Manahath, Ebal, Shepho and Onam. WBT 24 And these [are] the children of Zibeon; both Ajah and Anah; this [was that] Anah that found the mules in the wilderness, as he fed the asses of Zibeon his father. NIV 24 The sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who discovered the hot springs in the desert while he was grazing the donkeys of his father Zibeon. WBT 25 And the children of Anah [were] these; Dishon, and Aholibamah the daughter of Anah. NIV 25 The children of Anah: Dishon and Oholibamah daughter of Anah. WBT 26 And these [are] the children of Dishon; Hemdan, and Eshban, and Ithran, and Cheran. NIV 26 The sons of Dishon: Hemdan, Eshban, Ithran and Keran. WBT 27 The children of Ezer [are] these; Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Achan. NIV 27 The sons of Ezer: Bilhan, Zaavan and Akan. WBT 28 The children of Dishan [are] these; Uz, and Aran. NIV 28 The sons of Dishan: Uz and Aran. WBT 29 These [are] the dukes, [descendants] of the Horites; duke Lotan, duke Shobal, duke Zibeon, duke Anah, NIV 29 These were the Horite chiefs: Lotan, Shobal, Zibeon, Anah, WBT 30 Duke Dishon, duke Ezer, duke Dishan; these [are] the dukes, [descendants] of Hori, among their dukes in the land of Seir. NIV 30 Dishon, Ezer and Dishan. These were the Horite chiefs, according to their divisions, in the land of Seir. WBT 31 And these [are] the kings that reigned in the land of Edom, before there reigned any king over the children of Israel. NIV 31 These were the kings who reigned in Edom before any Israelite king reigned: WBT 32 And Bela the son of Beor reigned in Edom: and the name of his city [was] Dinhabah. NIV 32 Bela son of Beor became king of Edom. His city was named Dinhabah. WBT 33 And Bela died, and Jobab the son of Zerah of Bozrah reigned in his stead. NIV 33 When Bela died, Jobab son of Zerah from Bozrah succeeded him as king. WBT 34 And Jobab died, and Husham of the land of Temani reigned in his stead. NIV 34 When Jobab died, Husham from the land of the Temanites succeeded him as king. WBT 35 And Husham died, and Hadad the son of Bedad (who smote Midian in the field of Moab) reigned in his stead: and the name of his city [was] Avith. NIV 35 When Husham died, Hadad son of Bedad, who defeated Midian in the country of Moab, succeeded him as king. His city was named Avith. WBT 36 And Hadad died, and Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his stead. NIV 36 When Hadad died, Samlah from Masrekah succeeded him as king. WBT 37 And Samlah died, and Saul of Rehoboth [by] the river reigned in his stead. NIV 37 When Samlah died, Shaul from Rehoboth on the river succeeded him as king. WBT 38 And Saul died, and Baal-hanan the son of Achbor reigned in his stead. NIV 38 When Shaul died, Baal-Hanan son of Acbor succeeded him as king. WBT 39 And Baal-hanan the son of Achbor died, and Hadar reigned in his stead; and the name of his city [was] Pau; and his wife's name [was] Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, the daughter of Mezahab. NIV 39 When Baal-Hanan son of Acbor died, Hadad succeeded him as king. His city was named Pau, and his wife's name was Mehetabel daughter of Matred, the daughter of Me-Zahab. WBT 40 And these [are] the names of the dukes, [descendants] of Esau, according to their families, after their places, by their names; duke Timnah, duke Alvah, duke Jetheth, NIV 40 These were the chiefs descended from Esau, by name, according to their clans and regions: Timna, Alvah, Jetheth, WBT 41 Duke Aholibamah, duke Elah, duke Pinon, NIV 41 Oholibamah, Elah, Pinon, WBT 42 Duke Kenaz, duke Teman, duke Mibzar. NIV 42 Kenaz, Teman, Mibzar, WBT 43 Duke Magdiel, duke Iram; these [are] the dukes of Edom, according to their habitations, in the land of their possession: he [is] Esau the father of the Edomites. NIV 43 Magdiel and Iram. These were the chiefs of Edom, according to their settlements in the land they occupied. This was Esau the father of the Edomites.
