Genesis 46

YLT 1 And Israel journeyeth, and all that he hath, and cometh in to Beer-Sheba, and sacrificeth sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac; NIV 1 So Israel set out with all that was his, and when he reached Beersheba, he offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac. YLT 2 and God speaketh to Israel in visions of the night, and saith, `Jacob, Jacob;' and he saith, `Here [am] I.' NIV 2 And God spoke to Israel in a vision at night and said, "Jacob! Jacob!" "Here I am," he replied. YLT 3 And He saith, `I [am] God, God of thy father, be not afraid of going down to Egypt, for for a great nation I set thee there; NIV 3 "I am God, the God of your father," he said. "Do not be afraid to go down to Egypt, for I will make you into a great nation there. YLT 4 I -- I go down with thee to Egypt, and I -- I also certainly bring thee up, and Joseph doth put his hand on thine eyes.' NIV 4 I will go down to Egypt with you, and I will surely bring you back again. And Joseph's own hand will close your eyes." YLT 5 And Jacob riseth from Beer-Sheba, and the sons of Israel bear away Jacob their father, And their infants, and their wives, in the waggons which Pharaoh hath sent to bear him, NIV 5 Then Jacob left Beersheba, and Israel's sons took their father Jacob and their children and their wives in the carts that Pharaoh had sent to transport him. YLT 6 and they take their cattle, and their goods which they have acquired in the land of Canaan, and come into Egypt -- Jacob, and all his seed with him, NIV 6 They also took with them their livestock and the possessions they had acquired in Canaan, and Jacob and all his offspring went to Egypt. YLT 7 his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, yea, all his seed he brought with him into Egypt. NIV 7 He took with him to Egypt his sons and grandsons and his daughters and granddaughters--all his offspring. YLT 8 And these [are] the names of the sons of Israel who are coming into Egypt: Jacob and his sons, Jacob's first-born, Reuben. NIV 8 These are the names of the sons of Israel (Jacob and his descendants) who went to Egypt: Reuben the firstborn of Jacob. YLT 9 And sons of Reuben: Hanoch, and Phallu, and Hezron, and Carmi. NIV 9 The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron and Carmi. YLT 10 And sons of Simeon: Jemuel, and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul son of the Canaanitess. NIV 10 The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jakin, Zohar and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman. YLT 11 And sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari. NIV 11 The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath and Merari. YLT 12 And sons of Judah: Er, and Onan, and Shelah, and Pharez, and Zarah, (and Er and Onan die in the land of Canaan.) And sons of Pharez are Hezron and Hamul. NIV 12 The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez and Zerah (but Er and Onan had died in the land of Canaan). The sons of Perez: Hezron and Hamul. YLT 13 And sons of Issachar: Tola, and Phuvah, and Job, and Shimron. NIV 13 The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puah, Jashub and Shimron. YLT 14 And sons of Zebulun: Sered, and Elon, and Jahleel. NIV 14 The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon and Jahleel. YLT 15 These [are] sons of Leah whom she bare to Jacob in Padan-Aram, and Dinah his daughter; all the persons of his sons and his daughters [are] thirty and three. NIV 15 These were the sons Leah bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, besides his daughter Dinah. These sons and daughters of his were thirty-three in all. YLT 16 And sons of Gad: Ziphion, and Haggi, Shuni, and Ezbon, Eri, and Arodi, and Areli. NIV 16 The sons of Gad: Zephon, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi and Areli. YLT 17 And sons of Asher: Jimnah, and Ishuah, and Isui, and Beriah, and Serah their sister. And sons of Beriah: Heber and Malchiel. NIV 17 The sons of Asher: Imnah, Ishvah, Ishvi and Beriah. Their sister was Serah. The sons of Beriah: Heber and Malkiel. YLT 18 These [are] sons of Zilpah, whom Laban gave to Leah his daughter, and she beareth these to Jacob -- sixteen persons. NIV 18 These were the children born to Jacob by Zilpah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Leah--sixteen in all. YLT 19 Sons of Rachel, Jacob's wife: Joseph and Benjamin. NIV 19 The sons of Jacob's wife Rachel: Joseph and Benjamin. YLT 20 And born to Joseph in the land of Egypt (whom Asenath daughter of Poti-Pherah, priest of On, hath borne to him) [are] Manasseh and Ephraim. NIV 20 In Egypt, Manasseh and Ephraim were born to Joseph by Asenath daughter of Potiphera, priest of On. YLT 21 And sons of Benjamin: Belah, and Becher, and Ashbel, Gera, and Naaman, Ehi, and Rosh, Muppim, and Huppim, and Ard. NIV 21 The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Beker, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim and Ard. YLT 22 These [are] sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob; all the persons [are] fourteen. NIV 22 These were the sons of Rachel who were born to Jacob--fourteen in all. YLT 23 And sons of Dan: Hushim. NIV 23 The son of Dan: Hushim. YLT 24 And sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, and Guni, and Jezer, and Shillem. NIV 24 The sons of Naphtali: Jahziel, Guni, Jezer and Shillem. YLT 25 These [are] sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel his daughter; and she beareth these to Jacob -- all the persons [are] seven. NIV 25 These were the sons born to Jacob by Bilhah, whom Laban had given to his daughter Rachel--seven in all. YLT 26 All the persons who are coming to Jacob to Egypt, coming out of his thigh, apart from the wives of Jacob's sons, all the persons [are] sixty and six. NIV 26 All those who went to Egypt with Jacob--those who were his direct descendants, not counting his sons' wives--numbered sixty-six persons. YLT 27 And the sons of Joseph who have been born to him in Egypt [are] two persons. All the persons of the house of Jacob who are coming into Egypt [are] seventy. NIV 27 With the two sons who had been born to Joseph in Egypt, the members of Jacob's family, which went to Egypt, were seventy in all. YLT 28 And Judah he hath sent before him unto Joseph, to direct before him to Goshen, and they come into the land of Goshen; NIV 28 Now Jacob sent Judah ahead of him to Joseph to get directions to Goshen. When they arrived in the region of Goshen, YLT 29 and Joseph harnesseth his chariot, and goeth up to meet Israel his father, to Goshen, and appeareth unto him, and falleth on his neck, and weepeth on his neck again; NIV 29 Joseph had his chariot made ready and went to Goshen to meet his father Israel. As soon as Joseph appeared before him, he threw his arms around his father and wept for a long time. YLT 30 and Israel saith unto Joseph, `Let me die this time, after my seeing thy face, for thou [art] yet alive.' NIV 30 Israel said to Joseph, "Now I am ready to die, since I have seen for myself that you are still alive." YLT 31 And Joseph saith unto his brethren, and unto the house of his father, `I go up, and declare to Pharaoh, and say unto him, My brethren, and the house of my father who [are] in the land of Canaan have come in unto me; NIV 31 Then Joseph said to his brothers and to his father's household, "I will go up and speak to Pharaoh and will say to him, 'My brothers and my father's household, who were living in the land of Canaan, have come to me. YLT 32 and the men [are] feeders of a flock, for they have been men of cattle; and their flock, and their herd, and all that they have, they have brought.' NIV 32 The men are shepherds; they tend livestock, and they have brought along their flocks and herds and everything they own.' YLT 33 `And it hath come to pass when Pharaoh calleth for you, and hath said, What [are] your works? NIV 33 When Pharaoh calls you in and asks, 'What is your occupation?' YLT 34 that ye have said, Thy servants have been men of cattle from our youth, even until now, both we and our fathers, -- in order that ye may dwell in the land of Goshen, for the abomination of the Egyptians is every one feeding a flock.' NIV 34 you should answer, 'Your servants have tended livestock from our boyhood on, just as our fathers did.' Then you will be allowed to settle in the region of Goshen, for all shepherds are detestable to the Egyptians."
