Genesis 4:17-26

CEB 17 Cain knew his wife intimately. She became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain built a city and named the city after his son Enoch. NIV 17 Cain lay with his wife, and she became pregnant and gave birth to Enoch. Cain was then building a city, and he named it after his son Enoch. CEB 18 Irad was born to Enoch. Irad fathered Mehujael, Mehujael fathered Methushael, and Methushael fathered Lamech. NIV 18 To Enoch was born Irad, and Irad was the father of Mehujael, and Mehujael was the father of Methushael, and Methushael was the father of Lamech. CEB 19 Lamech took two wives, the first named Adah and the second Zillah. NIV 19 Lamech married two women, one named Adah and the other Zillah. CEB 22 Zillah also gave birth to Tubal-cain, the ancestor of blacksmiths and all artisans of bronze and iron. Tubal-cain's sister was Naamah. NIV 22 Zillah also had a son, Tubal-Cain, who forged all kinds of tools out of bronze and iron. Tubal-Cain's sister was Naamah. CEB 23 Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen to my voice; wives of Lamech, pay attention to my words: I killed a man for wounding me, a boy for striking me; NIV 23 Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. CEB 24 so Cain will be paid back seven times and Lamech seventy-seven times." NIV 24 If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." CEB 25 Adam knew his wife intimately again, and she gave birth to a son. She named him Seth"because God has given me another child in place of Abel, whom Cain killed." NIV 25 Adam lay with his wife again, and she gave birth to a son and named him Seth, saying, "God has granted me another child in place of Abel, since Cain killed him." CEB 26 Seth also fathered a son and named him Enosh. At that time, people began to worship in the LORD's name. NIV 26 Seth also had a son, and he named him Enosh. At that time men began to call on the name of the LORD.
