GW 1 This is the written account of Adam and his descendants. When God created humans, he made them in the likeness of God. NIV 1 This is the written account of Adam's line. When God created man, he made him in the likeness of God. GW 2 He created them male and female. He blessed them and called them humans when he created them. NIV 2 He created them male and female and blessed them. And when they were created, he called them "man. " GW 3 When Adam was 130 years old, he became the father [of a son] in his own likeness, in his own image. He named him Seth. NIV 3 When Adam had lived 130 years, he had a son in his own likeness, in his own image; and he named him Seth. GW 4 After Adam became the father of Seth, he lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. NIV 4 After Seth was born, Adam lived 800 years and had other sons and daughters. NIV 23 Altogether, Enoch lived 365 years. GW 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was gone because God took him. NIV 24 Enoch walked with God; then he was no more, because God took him away. GW 25 When Methuselah was 187 years old, he became the father of Lamech. NIV 25 When Methuselah had lived 187 years, he became the father of Lamech. GW 26 After he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. NIV 26 And after he became the father of Lamech, Methuselah lived 782 years and had other sons and daughters. GW 27 Methuselah lived a total of 969 years; then he died. NIV 27 Altogether, Methuselah lived 969 years, and then he died. GW 28 When Lamech was 182 years old, he became the father of a son. NIV 28 When Lamech had lived 182 years, he had a son. GW 29 He named him Noah [Relief], and said, "This child will bring us relief from the work and painful labor of our hands since the LORD has cursed the ground." NIV 29 He named him Noah and said, "He will comfort us in the labor and painful toil of our hands caused by the ground the LORD has cursed." GW 30 After Lamech became the father of Noah, he lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. NIV 30 After Noah was born, Lamech lived 595 years and had other sons and daughters. GW 31 Lamech lived a total of 777 years; then he died. NIV 31 Altogether, Lamech lived 777 years, and then he died. GW 32 When Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth. NIV 32 After Noah was 500 years old, he became the father of Shem, Ham and Japheth.
