Genesis 6

YLT 1 And it cometh to pass that mankind have begun to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters have been born to them, NIV 1 When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, YLT 2 and sons of God see the daughters of men that they [are] fair, and they take to themselves women of all whom they have chosen. NIV 2 the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. YLT 3 And Jehovah saith, `My Spirit doth not strive in man -- to the age; in their erring they [are] flesh:' and his days have been an hundred and twenty years. NIV 3 Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years." YLT 4 The fallen ones were in the earth in those days, and even afterwards when sons of God come in unto daughters of men, and they have borne to them -- they [are] the heroes, who, from of old, [are] the men of name. NIV 4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days--and also afterward--when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. YLT 5 And Jehovah seeth that abundant [is] the wickedness of man in the earth, and every imagination of the thoughts of his heart only evil all the day; NIV 5 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. YLT 6 and Jehovah repenteth that He hath made man in the earth, and He grieveth Himself -- unto His heart. NIV 6 The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. YLT 7 And Jehovah saith, `I wipe away man whom I have prepared from off the face of the ground, from man unto beast, unto creeping thing, and unto fowl of the heavens, for I have repented that I have made them.' NIV 7 So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth--men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air--for I am grieved that I have made them." YLT 8 And Noah found grace in the eyes of Jehovah. NIV 8 But Noah found favor in the eyes of the LORD. YLT 9 These [are] births of Noah: Noah [is] a righteous man; perfect he hath been among his generations; with God hath Noah walked habitually. NIV 9 This is the account of Noah. Noah was a righteous man, blameless among the people of his time, and he walked with God. YLT 10 And Noah begetteth three sons, Shem, Ham, and Japheth. NIV 10 Noah had three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth. YLT 11 And the earth is corrupt before God, and the earth is filled [with] violence. NIV 11 Now the earth was corrupt in God's sight and was full of violence. YLT 12 And God seeth the earth, and lo, it hath been corrupted, for all flesh hath corrupted its way on the earth. NIV 12 God saw how corrupt the earth had become, for all the people on earth had corrupted their ways. YLT 13 And God said to Noah, `An end of all flesh hath come before Me, for the earth hath been full of violence from their presence; and lo, I am destroying them with the earth. NIV 13 So God said to Noah, "I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy both them and the earth. YLT 14 `Make for thyself an ark of gopher-wood; rooms dost thou make with the ark, and thou hast covered it within and without with cypress; NIV 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress wood; make rooms in it and coat it with pitch inside and out. YLT 15 and this [is] that which thou dost with it: three hundred cubits [is] the length of the ark, fifty cubits its breadth, and thirty cubits its height; NIV 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be 450 feet long, 75 feet wide and 45 feet high. YLT 16 a window dost thou make for the ark, and unto a cubit thou dost restrain it from above; and the opening of the ark thou dost put in its side, -- lower, second, and third [stories] dost thou make it. NIV 16 Make a roof for it and finish the ark to within 18 inches of the top. Put a door in the side of the ark and make lower, middle and upper decks. YLT 17 `And I, lo, I am bringing in the deluge of waters on the earth to destroy all flesh, in which [is] a living spirit, from under the heavens; all that [is] in the earth doth expire. NIV 17 I am going to bring floodwaters on the earth to destroy all life under the heavens, every creature that has the breath of life in it. Everything on earth will perish. YLT 18 `And I have established My covenant with thee, and thou hast come in unto the ark, thou, and thy sons, and thy wife, and thy son's wives with thee; NIV 18 But I will establish my covenant with you, and you will enter the ark--you and your sons and your wife and your sons' wives with you. YLT 19 and of all that liveth, of all flesh, two of every [sort] thou dost bring in unto the ark, to keep alive with thee; male and female are they. NIV 19 You are to bring into the ark two of all living creatures, male and female, to keep them alive with you. YLT 20 Of the fowl after its kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the ground after its kind, two of every [sort] they come in unto thee, to keep alive.
