RSV 8 Then he sent forth a dove from him, to see if the waters had subsided from the face of the ground; NIV 8 Then he sent out a dove to see if the water had receded from the surface of the ground. RSV 9 but the dove found no place to set her foot, and she returned to him to the ark, for the waters were still on the face of the whole earth. So he put forth his hand and took her and brought her into the ark with him. NIV 9 But the dove could find no place to set its feet because there was water over all the surface of the earth; so it returned to Noah in the ark. He reached out his hand and took the dove and brought it back to himself in the ark. RSV 10 He waited another seven days, and again he sent forth the dove out of the ark; NIV 10 He waited seven more days and again sent out the dove from the ark. RSV 11 and the dove came back to him in the evening, and lo, in her mouth a freshly plucked olive leaf; so Noah knew that the waters had subsided from the earth. NIV 11 When the dove returned to him in the evening, there in its beak was a freshly plucked olive leaf ! Then Noah knew that the water had receded from the earth. RSV 12 Then he waited another seven days, and sent forth the dove; and she did not return to him any more. NIV 12 He waited seven more days and sent the dove out again, but this time it did not return to him. RSV 13 In the six hundred and first year, in the first month, the first day of the month, the waters were dried from off the earth; and Noah removed the covering of the ark, and looked, and behold, the face of the ground was dry. NIV 13 By the first day of the first month of Noah's six hundred and first year, the water had dried up from the earth. Noah then removed the covering from the ark and saw that the surface of the ground was dry. RSV 14 In the second month, on the twenty-seventh day of the month, the earth was dry. NIV 16 "Come out of the ark, you and your wife and your sons and their wives. RSV 17 Bring forth with you every living thing that is with you of all flesh--birds and animals and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth--that they may breed abundantly on the earth, and be fruitful and multiply upon the earth." NIV 17 Bring out every kind of living creature that is with you--the birds, the animals, and all the creatures that move along the ground--so they can multiply on the earth and be fruitful and increase in number upon it." RSV 18 So Noah went forth, and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him. NIV 18 So Noah came out, together with his sons and his wife and his sons' wives. RSV 19 And every beast, every creeping thing, and every bird, everything that moves upon the earth, went forth by families out of the ark.
