HNV 1 God blessed Noach and his sons, and said to them, "Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the eretz. NIV 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. HNV 2 The fear of you and the dread of you will be on every animal of the eretz, and on every bird of the sky. Everything that the ground teems with, and all the fish of the sea are delivered into your hand. NIV 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. HNV 3 Every moving thing that lives will be food for you. As the green herb, I have given everything to you. NIV 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. HNV 4 But flesh with the life of it, the blood of it, you shall not eat. NIV 4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. HNV 5 I will surely require your blood of your lives. At the hand of every animal I will require it. At the hand of man, even at the hand of every man's brother, I will require the life of man. NIV 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. HNV 6 Whoever sheds man's blood, by man will his blood be shed, for in the image of God made he man. NIV 6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man. HNV 7 Be fruitful, and multiply. Bring forth abundantly in the eretz, and multiply in it." NIV 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it." HNV 8 God spoke to Noach, and to his sons with him, saying, NIV 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: HNV 9 "As for me, behold, I establish my covenant with you, and with your offspring after you, NIV 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you HNV 10 and with every living creature that is with you: the birds, the cattle, and every animal of the eretz with you. Of all that go out of the teivah, even every animal of the eretz. NIV 10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth. HNV 11 I will establish my covenant with you; neither will all flesh be cut off any more by the waters of the flood; neither will there any more be a flood to destroy the eretz." NIV 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." HNV 12 God said, "This is the token of the covenant which I make between me and you and every living creature that is with you, for perpetual generations: NIV 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: HNV 13 I set my rainbow in the cloud, and it will be for a sign of a covenant between me and the eretz. NIV 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. HNV 14 It will happen, when I bring a cloud over the eretz, that the rainbow will be seen in the cloud, NIV 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, HNV 15 and I will remember my covenant, which is between me and you and every living creature of all flesh, and the waters will no more become a flood to destroy all flesh. NIV 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. HNV 16 The rainbow will be in the cloud. I will look at it, that I may remember the everlasting covenant between God and every living creature of all flesh that is on the eretz." NIV 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." HNV 17 God said to Noach, "This is the token of the covenant which I have established between me and all flesh that is on the eretz." NIV 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth." HNV 18 The sons of Noach who went forth from the teivah were Shem, Ham, and Yefet. Ham is the father of Kana`an. NIV 18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) HNV 19 These three were the sons of Noach, and from these, the whole eretz was populated. NIV 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth. HNV 20 Noach began to be a farmer, and planted a vineyard. NIV 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. HNV 21 He drank of the wine, and got drunk. He was uncovered within his tent. NIV 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. HNV 22 Ham, the father of Kana`an, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brothers outside. NIV 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. HNV 23 Shem and Yefet took a garment, and laid it on both their shoulders, went in backwards, and covered the nakedness of their father. Their faces were backwards, and they didn't see their father's nakedness. NIV 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness. HNV 24 Noach awoke from his wine, and knew what his youngest son had done to him. NIV 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, HNV 25 He said, "Cursed be Kana`an; A servant of servants will he be to his brothers." NIV 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers." HNV 26 He said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem; Let Kana`an be his servant. NIV 26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. HNV 27 God enlarge Yefet, Let him dwell in the tents of Shem; Let Kana`an be his servant." NIV 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave." HNV 28 Noach lived three hundred fifty years after the flood. NIV 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. HNV 29 All the days of Noach were nine hundred fifty years, then he died. NIV 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.
