Genesis 9

RHE 1 And God blessed Noe and his sons. And he said to them: Increase, and multiply, and fill the earth. NIV 1 Then God blessed Noah and his sons, saying to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number and fill the earth. RHE 2 And let the fear and dread of you be upon all the beasts of the earth, and upon all the fowls of the air, and all that move upon the earth: all the fishes of the sea are delivered into your hand. NIV 2 The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands. RHE 3 And every thing that moveth, and liveth shall be meat for you: even as the green herbs have I delivered them all to you: NIV 3 Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything. RHE 4 Saving that flesh with blood you shall not eat. NIV 4 "But you must not eat meat that has its lifeblood still in it. RHE 5 For I will require the blood of your lives at the hand of every beast, and at the hand of man, at the hand of every man, and of his brother, will I require the life of man. NIV 5 And for your lifeblood I will surely demand an accounting. I will demand an accounting from every animal. And from each man, too, I will demand an accounting for the life of his fellow man. RHE 6 Whosoever shall shed man’s blood, his blood shall be shed: for man was made to the image of God. NIV 6 "Whoever sheds the blood of man, by man shall his blood be shed; for in the image of God has God made man. RHE 7 But increase you and multiply, and go upon the earth and fill it. NIV 7 As for you, be fruitful and increase in number; multiply on the earth and increase upon it." RHE 8 Thus also said God to Noe, and to his sons with him: NIV 8 Then God said to Noah and to his sons with him: RHE 9 Behold I will establish my covenant with you, and with your seed after you: NIV 9 "I now establish my covenant with you and with your descendants after you RHE 10 And with every living soul that is with you, as well in all birds, as in cattle and beasts of the earth, that are come forth out of the ark, and in all the beasts of the earth. NIV 10 and with every living creature that was with you--the birds, the livestock and all the wild animals, all those that came out of the ark with you--every living creature on earth. RHE 11 I will establish my covenant with you, and all flesh shall be no more destroyed with the waters of a flood, neither shall there be from henceforth a flood to waste the earth. NIV 11 I establish my covenant with you: Never again will all life be cut off by the waters of a flood; never again will there be a flood to destroy the earth." RHE 12 And God said: This is the sign of the covenant which I give between me and you, and to every living soul that is with you, for perpetual generations. NIV 12 And God said, "This is the sign of the covenant I am making between me and you and every living creature with you, a covenant for all generations to come: RHE 13 I will set my bow in the clouds, and it shall be the sign of a covenant between me and between the earth. NIV 13 I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth. RHE 14 And when I shall cover the sky with clouds, my bow shall appear in the clouds: NIV 14 Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, RHE 15 And I will remember my covenant with you, and with every living soul that beareth flesh: and there shall no more be waters of a flood to destroy all flesh. NIV 15 I will remember my covenant between me and you and all living creatures of every kind. Never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life. RHE 16 And the bow shall be in the clouds, and I shall see it, and shall remember the everlasting covenant, that was made between God and every living soul of all flesh which is upon the earth. NIV 16 Whenever the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will see it and remember the everlasting covenant between God and all living creatures of every kind on the earth." RHE 17 And God said to Noe: This shall be the sign of the covenant, which I have established, between me and all flesh upon the earth. NIV 17 So God said to Noah, "This is the sign of the covenant I have established between me and all life on the earth." RHE 18 And the sons of Noe, who came out of the ark, were Sem, Cham, and Japheth: and Cham is the father of Chanaan. NIV 18 The sons of Noah who came out of the ark were Shem, Ham and Japheth. (Ham was the father of Canaan.) RHE 19 These three are the sons of Noe: and from these was all mankind spread over the whole earth. NIV 19 These were the three sons of Noah, and from them came the people who were scattered over the earth. RHE 20 And Noe a husbandman began to till the ground, and planted a vineyard. NIV 20 Noah, a man of the soil, proceeded to plant a vineyard. RHE 21 And drinking of the wine was made drunk, and was uncovered in his tent. NIV 21 When he drank some of its wine, he became drunk and lay uncovered inside his tent. RHE 22 Which when Cham the father of Chanaan had seen, to wit, that his father’s nakedness was uncovered, he told it to his two brethren without. NIV 22 Ham, the father of Canaan, saw his father's nakedness and told his two brothers outside. RHE 23 But Sem and Japheth put a cloak upon their shoulders, and going backward, covered the nakedness of their father: and their faces were turned away, and they saw not their father’s nakedness. NIV 23 But Shem and Japheth took a garment and laid it across their shoulders; then they walked in backward and covered their father's nakedness. Their faces were turned the other way so that they would not see their father's nakedness. RHE 24 And Noe awaking from the wine, when he had learned what his younger son had done to him, NIV 24 When Noah awoke from his wine and found out what his youngest son had done to him, RHE 25 He said: Cursed be Chanaan, a servant of servants shall he be unto his brethren. NIV 25 he said, "Cursed be Canaan! The lowest of slaves will he be to his brothers." RHE 26 And he said: Blessed be the Lord God of Sem, be Chanaan his servant. NIV 26 He also said, "Blessed be the LORD, the God of Shem! May Canaan be the slave of Shem. RHE 27 May God enlarge Japheth, and may he dwell in the tents of Sem, and Chanaan be his servant. NIV 27 May God extend the territory of Japheth; may Japheth live in the tents of Shem, and may Canaan be his slave." RHE 28 And Noe lived after the flood three hundred and fifty years. NIV 28 After the flood Noah lived 350 years. RHE 29 And all his days were in the whole nine hundred and fifty years: and he died. NIV 29 Altogether, Noah lived 950 years, and then he died.
