Hebrews 13

LEB 1 Brotherly love must continue. NIV 1 Keep on loving each other as brothers. LEB 2 Do not neglect hospitality, because through this some have received angels as guests without knowing [it]. NIV 2 Do not forget to entertain strangers, for by so doing some people have entertained angels without knowing it. LEB 3 Remember the prisoners, as [though you were] fellow-prisoners; [remember] the mistreated, as [though] [you] yourselves also are being [mistreated] in the body. NIV 3 Remember those in prison as if you were their fellow prisoners, and those who are mistreated as if you yourselves were suffering. LEB 4 Marriage [must be] held in honor by all, and the marriage bed [be] undefiled, because God will judge sexually immoral people and adulterers. NIV 4 Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral. LEB 5 Your lifestyle [must be] free from the love of money, being content with what you have. For he himself has said, "I will never desert you, and I will never abandon you." NIV 5 Keep your lives free from the love of money and be content with what you have, because God has said, "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you." LEB 6 So then, we can say with confidence, "The Lord [is] my helper, I will not be afraid.<note: Some manuscripts have "and I will not be afraid"> What will man do to me?"<note: A quotation from Ps 118:6> NIV 6 So we say with confidence, "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can man do to me?" LEB 7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you; {considering the outcome of their way of life}, imitate their faith. NIV 7 Remember your leaders, who spoke the word of God to you. Consider the outcome of their way of life and imitate their faith. LEB 8 Jesus Christ [is] the same yesterday and today and {forever}. NIV 8 Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. LEB 9 Do not be carried away by various and strange teachings, for [it is] good [for] the heart to be strengthened by grace, not by foods by which those who participate have not benefited. NIV 9 Do not be carried away by all kinds of strange teachings. It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace, not by ceremonial foods, which are of no value to those who eat them. LEB 10 We have an altar from which those who serve in the tabernacle do not have the right to eat. NIV 10 We have an altar from which those who minister at the tabernacle have no right to eat. LEB 11 For the bodies of those animals whose blood is brought into the sanctuary by the high priest for sins are burned up outside the camp. NIV 11 The high priest carries the blood of animals into the Most Holy Place as a sin offering, but the bodies are burned outside the camp. LEB 12 Therefore Jesus also suffered outside the gate, in order that he might sanctify the people by his own blood. NIV 12 And so Jesus also suffered outside the city gate to make the people holy through his own blood. LEB 13 So we must go out to him outside the camp, bearing his reproach. NIV 13 Let us, then, go to him outside the camp, bearing the disgrace he bore. LEB 14 For here we do not have a permanent city, but we seek the [city] that is to come. NIV 14 For here we do not have an enduring city, but we are looking for the city that is to come. LEB 15 Therefore through him let us offer up a sacrifice of praise {continually} to God, that is, the fruit of lips that confess his name. NIV 15 Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise--the fruit of lips that confess his name. LEB 16 And do not neglect doing good and generosity, for God is pleased with such sacrifices. NIV 16 And do not forget to do good and to share with others, for with such sacrifices God is pleased. LEB 17 Obey your leaders and submit [to them], for they keep watch over your souls as those who will give an account, so that they can do this with joy and not [with] groaning, for this [would be] unprofitable for you. NIV 17 Obey your leaders and submit to their authority. They keep watch over you as men who must give an account. Obey them so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no advantage to you. LEB 18 Pray for us, for we are convinced that we have a good conscience, [and] want to conduct ourselves commendably in every [way]. NIV 18 Pray for us. We are sure that we have a clear conscience and desire to live honorably in every way. LEB 19 And I especially urge [you] to do this, so that I may be restored to you more quickly. NIV 19 I particularly urge you to pray so that I may be restored to you soon. LEB 20 Now may the God of peace, who brought up from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the eternal covenant, NIV 20 May the God of peace, who through the blood of the eternal covenant brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great Shepherd of the sheep, LEB 21 equip you with every good [thing] to do his will, carrying out in us [what is] pleasing before him through Jesus Christ, to whom [be] the glory {forever}. Amen. NIV 21 equip you with everything good for doing his will, and may he work in us what is pleasing to him, through Jesus Christ, to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen. LEB 22 Now I urge you, brothers, bear with my word of exhortation, for indeed I have written to you {briefly}. NIV 22 Brothers, I urge you to bear with my word of exhortation, for I have written you only a short letter. LEB 23 Know [that] our brother Timothy has been released, with whom I will see you, if he comes quickly [enough]. NIV 23 I want you to know that our brother Timothy has been released. If he arrives soon, I will come with him to see you. LEB 24 Greet all your leaders and all the saints. Those from Italy greet you. NIV 24 Greet all your leaders and all God's people. Those from Italy send you their greetings. LEB 25 Grace [be] with all of you. NIV 25 Grace be with you all.
