Hebrews 1:5-14

RSV 5 For to what angel did God ever say, "Thou art my Son, today I have begotten thee"? Or again, "I will be to him a father, and he shall be to me a son"? NIV 5 For to which of the angels did God ever say, "You are my Son; today I have become your Father " ? Or again, "I will be his Father, and he will be my Son" ? RSV 6 And again, when he brings the first-born into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." NIV 6 And again, when God brings his firstborn into the world, he says, "Let all God's angels worship him." RSV 7 Of the angels he says, "Who makes his angels winds, and his servants flames of fire." NIV 7 In speaking of the angels he says, "He makes his angels winds, his servants flames of fire." RSV 8 But of the Son he says, "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom. NIV 8 But about the Son he says, "Your throne, O God, will last for ever and ever, and righteousness will be the scepter of your kingdom. RSV 9 Thou hast loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; therefore God, thy God, has anointed thee with the oil of gladness beyond thy comrades." NIV 9 You have loved righteousness and hated wickedness; therefore God, your God, has set you above your companions by anointing you with the oil of joy." RSV 10 And, "Thou, Lord, didst found the earth in the beginning, and the heavens are the work of thy hands; NIV 10 He also says, "In the beginning, O Lord, you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. RSV 11 they will perish, but thou remainest; they will all grow old like a garment, NIV 11 They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. RSV 12 like a mantle thou wilt roll them up, and they will be changed. But thou art the same, and thy years will never end." NIV 12 You will roll them up like a robe; like a garment they will be changed. But you remain the same, and your years will never end." RSV 13 But to what angel has he ever said, "Sit at my right hand, till I make thy enemies a stool for thy feet"? NIV 13 To which of the angels did God ever say, "Sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet" ? RSV 14 Are they not all ministering spirits sent forth to serve, for the sake of those who are to obtain salvation? NIV 14 Are not all angels ministering spirits sent to serve those who will inherit salvation?
