Hebrews 3

CSB 1 Therefore, holy brothers and companions in a heavenly calling, consider Jesus, the apostle and high priest of our confession; NIV 1 Therefore, holy brothers, who share in the heavenly calling, fix your thoughts on Jesus, the apostle and high priest whom we confess. CSB 2 He was faithful to the One who appointed Him, just as Moses was in all God's household. NIV 2 He was faithful to the one who appointed him, just as Moses was faithful in all God's house. CSB 3 For Jesus is considered worthy of more glory than Moses, just as the builder has more honor than the house. NIV 3 Jesus has been found worthy of greater honor than Moses, just as the builder of a house has greater honor than the house itself. CSB 4 Now every house is built by someone, but the One who built everything is God. NIV 4 For every house is built by someone, but God is the builder of everything. CSB 5 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's household, as a testimony to what would be said [in the future]. NIV 5 Moses was faithful as a servant in all God's house, testifying to what would be said in the future. CSB 6 But Christ was faithful as a Son over His household, whose household we are if we hold on to the courage and the confidence of our hope. NIV 6 But Christ is faithful as a son over God's house. And we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast. CSB 7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: Today, if you hear His voice, NIV 7 So, as the Holy Spirit says: "Today, if you hear his voice, CSB 8 do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion, on the day of testing in the desert, NIV 8 do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion, during the time of testing in the desert, CSB 9 where your fathers tested Me, tried [ Me ], and saw My works NIV 9 where your fathers tested and tried me and for forty years saw what I did. CSB 10 for 40 years. Therefore I was provoked with this generation and said, "They always go astray in their hearts, and they have not known My ways." NIV 10 That is why I was angry with that generation, and I said, 'Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.' CSB 11 So I swore in My anger, "They will not enter My rest." NIV 11 So I declared on oath in my anger, 'They shall never enter my rest.' " CSB 12 Watch out, brothers, so that there won't be in any of you an evil, unbelieving heart that departs from the living God. NIV 12 See to it, brothers, that none of you has a sinful, unbelieving heart that turns away from the living God. CSB 13 But encourage each other daily, while it is still called today , so that none of you is hardened by sin's deception. NIV 13 But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called Today, so that none of you may be hardened by sin's deceitfulness. CSB 14 For we have become companions of the Messiah if we hold firmly until the end the reality that we had at the start. NIV 14 We have come to share in Christ if we hold firmly till the end the confidence we had at first. CSB 15 As it is said: Today, if you hear His voice, do not harden your hearts as in the rebellion. NIV 15 As has just been said: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts as you did in the rebellion." CSB 16 For who heard and rebelled? Wasn't it really all who came out of Egypt under Moses? NIV 16 Who were they who heard and rebelled? Were they not all those Moses led out of Egypt? CSB 17 And with whom was He "provoked for 40 years"? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? NIV 17 And with whom was he angry for forty years? Was it not with those who sinned, whose bodies fell in the desert? CSB 18 And to whom did He "swear that they would not enter His rest," if not those who disobeyed? NIV 18 And to whom did God swear that they would never enter his rest if not to those who disobeyed ? CSB 19 So we see that they were unable to enter because of unbelief. NIV 19 So we see that they were not able to enter, because of their unbelief.
