Hebrews 4:6-11

NRS 6 Since therefore it remains open for some to enter it, and those who formerly received the good news failed to enter because of disobedience, NIV 6 It still remains that some will enter that rest, and those who formerly had the gospel preached to them did not go in, because of their disobedience. NRS 7 again he sets a certain day—"today"—saying through David much later, in the words already quoted, "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." NIV 7 Therefore God again set a certain day, calling it Today, when a long time later he spoke through David, as was said before: "Today, if you hear his voice, do not harden your hearts." NRS 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not speak later about another day. NIV 8 For if Joshua had given them rest, God would not have spoken later about another day. NRS 9 So then, a sabbath rest still remains for the people of God; NIV 9 There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; NRS 10 for those who enter God's rest also cease from their labors as God did from his. NIV 10 for anyone who enters God's rest also rests from his own work, just as God did from his. NRS 11 Let us therefore make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one may fall through such disobedience as theirs. NIV 11 Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will fall by following their example of disobedience.
