Isaiah 65:1-16

NLT 1 The says, “I was ready to respond, but no one asked for help. I was ready to be found, but no one was looking for me. I said, ‘Here I am, here I am!’ to a nation that did not call on my name. NIV 1 "I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me; I was found by those who did not seek me. To a nation that did not call on my name, I said, 'Here am I, here am I.' NLT 2 All day long I opened my arms to a rebellious people. But they follow their own evil paths and their own crooked schemes. NIV 2 All day long I have held out my hands to an obstinate people, who walk in ways not good, pursuing their own imaginations-- NLT 3 All day long they insult me to my face by worshiping idols in their sacred gardens. They burn incense on pagan altars. NIV 3 a people who continually provoke me to my very face, offering sacrifices in gardens and burning incense on altars of brick; NLT 4 At night they go out among the graves, worshiping the dead. They eat the flesh of pigs and make stews with other forbidden foods. NIV 4 who sit among the graves and spend their nights keeping secret vigil; who eat the flesh of pigs, and whose pots hold broth of unclean meat; NLT 5 Yet they say to each other, ‘Don’t come too close or you will defile me! I am holier than you!’ These people are a stench in my nostrils, an acrid smell that never goes away. NIV 5 who say, 'Keep away; don't come near me, for I am too sacred for you!' Such people are smoke in my nostrils, a fire that keeps burning all day. NLT 6 “Look, my decree is written out in front of me: I will not stand silent; I will repay them in full! Yes, I will repay them— NIV 6 "See, it stands written before me: I will not keep silent but will pay back in full; I will pay it back into their laps-- NLT 7 both for their own sins and for those of their ancestors,” says the . “For they also burned incense on the mountains and insulted me on the hills. I will pay them back in full! NIV 7 both your sins and the sins of your fathers," says the LORD. "Because they burned sacrifices on the mountains and defied me on the hills, I will measure into their laps the full payment for their former deeds." NLT 8 “But I will not destroy them all,” says the . “For just as good grapes are found among a cluster of bad ones (and someone will say, ‘Don’t throw them all away— some of those grapes are good!’), so I will not destroy all Israel. For I still have true servants there. NIV 8 This is what the LORD says: "As when juice is still found in a cluster of grapes and men say, 'Don't destroy it, there is yet some good in it,' so will I do in behalf of my servants; I will not destroy them all. NLT 9 I will preserve a remnant of the people of Israel and of Judah to possess my land. Those I choose will inherit it, and my servants will live there. NIV 9 I will bring forth descendants from Jacob, and from Judah those who will possess my mountains; my chosen people will inherit them, and there will my servants live. NLT 10 The plain of Sharon will again be filled with flocks for my people who have searched for me, and the valley of Achor will be a place to pasture herds. NIV 10 Sharon will become a pasture for flocks, and the Valley of Achor a resting place for herds, for my people who seek me. NLT 11 “But because the rest of you have forsaken the and have forgotten his Temple, and because you have prepared feasts to honor the god of Fate and have offered mixed wine to the god of Destiny, NIV 11 "But as for you who forsake the LORD and forget my holy mountain, who spread a table for Fortune and fill bowls of mixed wine for Destiny, NLT 12 now I will ‘destine’ you for the sword. All of you will bow down before the executioner. For when I called, you did not answer. When I spoke, you did not listen. You deliberately sinned—before my very eyes— and chose to do what you know I despise.” NIV 12 I will destine you for the sword, and you will all bend down for the slaughter; for I called but you did not answer, I spoke but you did not listen. You did evil in my sight and chose what displeases me." NLT 13 Therefore, this is what the Sovereign says: “My servants will eat, but you will starve. My servants will drink, but you will be thirsty. My servants will rejoice, but you will be sad and ashamed. NIV 13 Therefore this is what the Sovereign LORD says: "My servants will eat, but you will go hungry; my servants will drink, but you will go thirsty; my servants will rejoice, but you will be put to shame. NLT 14 My servants will sing for joy, but you will cry in sorrow and despair. NIV 14 My servants will sing out of the joy of their hearts, but you will cry out from anguish of heart and wail in brokenness of spirit. NLT 15 Your name will be a curse word among my people, for the Sovereign will destroy you and will call his true servants by another name. NIV 15 You will leave your name to my chosen ones as a curse; the Sovereign LORD will put you to death, but to his servants he will give another name. NLT 16 All who invoke a blessing or take an oath will do so by the God of truth. For I will put aside my anger and forget the evil of earlier days. NIV 16 Whoever invokes a blessing in the land will do so by the God of truth; he who takes an oath in the land will swear by the God of truth. For the past troubles will be forgotten and hidden from my eyes.
