James 4:13-17

CEB 13 Pay attention, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to such-and-such a town. We will stay there a year, buying and selling, and making a profit." NIV 13 Now listen, you who say, "Today or tomorrow we will go to this or that city, spend a year there, carry on business and make money." CEB 14 You don't really know about tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for only a short while before it vanishes. NIV 14 Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes. CEB 15 Here's what you ought to say: "If the Lord wills, we will live and do this or that." NIV 15 Instead, you ought to say, "If it is the Lord's will, we will live and do this or that." CEB 16 But now you boast and brag, and all such boasting is evil. NIV 16 As it is, you boast and brag. All such boasting is evil. CEB 17 It is a sin when someone knows the right thing to do and doesn't do it. NIV 17 Anyone, then, who knows the good he ought to do and doesn't do it, sins.
