Jeremiah 1:1-12

NLT 1 These are the words of Jeremiah son of Hilkiah, one of the priests from the town of Anathoth in the land of Benjamin. NLT 7 The replied, “Don’t say, ‘I’m too young,’ for you must go wherever I send you and say whatever I tell you. NIV 7 But the LORD said to me, "Do not say, 'I am only a child.' You must go to everyone I send you to and say whatever I command you. NLT 8 And don’t be afraid of the people, for I will be with you and will protect you. I, the , have spoken!” NIV 8 Do not be afraid of them, for I am with you and will rescue you," declares the LORD. NLT 9 Then the reached out and touched my mouth and said, “Look, I have put my words in your mouth! NIV 9 Then the LORD reached out his hand and touched my mouth and said to me, "Now, I have put my words in your mouth. NLT 10 Today I appoint you to stand up against nations and kingdoms. Some you must uproot and tear down, destroy and overthrow. Others you must build up and plant.” NIV 10 See, today I appoint you over nations and kingdoms to uproot and tear down, to destroy and overthrow, to build and to plant." NLT 11 Then the said to me, “Look, Jeremiah! What do you see?” And I replied, “I see a branch from an almond tree.” NIV 11 The word of the LORD came to me: "What do you see, Jeremiah?" "I see the branch of an almond tree," I replied. NLT 12 And the said, “That’s right, and it means that I am watching, and I will certainly carry out all my plans.” NIV 12 The LORD said to me, "You have seen correctly, for I am watching to see that my word is fulfilled."
