Job 12

NRS 1 Then Job answered: NIV 1 Then Job replied: NRS 2 "No doubt you are the people, and wisdom will die with you. NIV 2 "Doubtless you are the people, and wisdom will die with you! NRS 3 But I have understanding as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know such things as these? NIV 3 But I have a mind as well as you; I am not inferior to you. Who does not know all these things? NRS 4 I am a laughingstock to my friends; I, who called upon God and he answered me, a just and blameless man, I am a laughingstock. NIV 4 "I have become a laughingstock to my friends, though I called upon God and he answered-- a mere laughingstock, though righteous and blameless! NRS 5 Those at ease have contempt for misfortune, but it is ready for those whose feet are unstable. NIV 5 Men at ease have contempt for misfortune as the fate of those whose feet are slipping. NRS 6 The tents of robbers are at peace, and those who provoke God are secure, who bring their god in their hands. NIV 6 The tents of marauders are undisturbed, and those who provoke God are secure-- those who carry their god in their hands. NRS 14 If he tears down, no one can rebuild; if he shuts someone in, no one can open up. NIV 14 What he tears down cannot be rebuilt; the man he imprisons cannot be released. NRS 15 If he withholds the waters, they dry up; if he sends them out, they overwhelm the land. NIV 15 If he holds back the waters, there is drought; if he lets them loose, they devastate the land. NRS 16 With him are strength and wisdom; the deceived and the deceiver are his. NIV 16 To him belong strength and victory; both deceived and deceiver are his.
