Job 19

WEB 1 Then Job answered, NIV 1 Then Job replied: WEB 2 "How long will you torment me, And crush me with words? NIV 2 "How long will you torment me and crush me with words? WEB 3 You have reproached me ten times. You aren't ashamed that you attack me. NIV 3 Ten times now you have reproached me; shamelessly you attack me. WEB 4 If it is true that I have erred, My error remains with myself. NIV 4 If it is true that I have gone astray, my error remains my concern alone. WEB 5 If indeed you will magnify yourselves against me, And plead against me my reproach; NIV 5 If indeed you would exalt yourselves above me and use my humiliation against me, WEB 6 Know now that God has subverted me, And has surrounded me with his net. NIV 6 then know that God has wronged me and drawn his net around me. WEB 7 "Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry for help, but there is no justice. NIV 7 "Though I cry, 'I've been wronged!' I get no response; though I call for help, there is no justice. WEB 8 He has walled up my way so that I can't pass, And has set darkness in my paths. NIV 8 He has blocked my way so I cannot pass; he has shrouded my paths in darkness. WEB 9 He has stripped me of my glory, And taken the crown from my head. NIV 9 He has stripped me of my honor and removed the crown from my head. WEB 10 He has broken me down on every side, and I am gone. My hope he has plucked up like a tree. NIV 10 He tears me down on every side till I am gone; he uproots my hope like a tree. WEB 11 He has also kindled his wrath against me. He counts me among his adversaries. NIV 11 His anger burns against me; he counts me among his enemies. WEB 12 His troops come on together, Build a siege ramp against me, And encamp around my tent. NIV 12 His troops advance in force; they build a siege ramp against me and encamp around my tent. WEB 13 "He has put my brothers far from me. My acquaintances are wholly estranged from me. NIV 13 "He has alienated my brothers from me; my acquaintances are completely estranged from me. WEB 14 My relatives have gone away. My familiar friends have forgotten me. NIV 14 My kinsmen have gone away; my friends have forgotten me. WEB 15 Those who dwell in my house, and my maids, count me for a stranger. I am an alien in their sight. NIV 15 My guests and my maidservants count me a stranger; they look upon me as an alien. WEB 16 I call to my servant, and he gives me no answer; I beg him with my mouth. NIV 16 I summon my servant, but he does not answer, though I beg him with my own mouth. WEB 17 My breath is offensive to my wife. I am loathsome to the children of my own mother. NIV 17 My breath is offensive to my wife; I am loathsome to my own brothers. WEB 18 Even young children despise me. If I arise, they speak against me. NIV 18 Even the little boys scorn me; when I appear, they ridicule me. WEB 19 All my familiar friends abhor me. They whom I loved have turned against me. NIV 19 All my intimate friends detest me; those I love have turned against me. WEB 20 My bones stick to my skin and to my flesh. I have escaped by the skin of my teeth. NIV 20 I am nothing but skin and bones; I have escaped with only the skin of my teeth. WEB 21 "Have pity on me, have pity on me, you my friends; For the hand of God has touched me. NIV 21 "Have pity on me, my friends, have pity, for the hand of God has struck me. WEB 22 Why do you persecute me as God, And are not satisfied with my flesh? NIV 22 Why do you pursue me as God does? Will you never get enough of my flesh? WEB 23 "Oh that my words were now written! Oh that they were inscribed in a book! NIV 23 "Oh, that my words were recorded, that they were written on a scroll, WEB 24 That with an iron pen and lead They were engraved in the rock forever! NIV 24 that they were inscribed with an iron tool on lead, or engraved in rock forever! WEB 25 But as for me, I know that my Redeemer lives. In the end, he will stand upon the earth. NIV 25 I know that my Redeemer lives, and that in the end he will stand upon the earth. WEB 26 After my skin is destroyed, Then in my flesh shall I see God, NIV 26 And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God; WEB 27 Whom I, even I, shall see on my side. My eyes shall see, and not as a stranger. "My heart is consumed within me. NIV 27 I myself will see him with my own eyes--I, and not another. How my heart yearns within me! WEB 28 If you say, 'How we will persecute him!' Because the root of the matter is found in me, NIV 28 "If you say, 'How we will hound him, since the root of the trouble lies in him, ' WEB 29 Be afraid of the sword, For wrath brings the punishments of the sword, That you may know there is a judgment." NIV 29 you should fear the sword yourselves; for wrath will bring punishment by the sword, and then you will know that there is judgment. "
