1 Job responde al Señor<br />Entonces Job respondió al Señor<br />:

Then Job replied to the LORD:
2 «Sé que todo lo puedes,<br />y que nadie puede detenerte.

“I know that you can do all things; no purpose of yours can be thwarted.
3 Tú preguntaste: “¿Quién es este que pone en duda mi sabiduría con tanta ignorancia?”.<br />Soy yo y hablaba de cosas sobre las que no sabía nada,<br />cosas demasiado maravillosas para mí.

You asked, ‘Who is this that obscures my plans without knowledge?’ Surely I spoke of things I did not understand, things too wonderful for me to know.
4 Tú dijiste: “¡Escucha y yo hablaré!<br />Tengo algunas preguntas para ti<br />y tendrás que contestarlas”.

“You said, ‘Listen now, and I will speak; I will question you, and you shall answer me.’
5 Hasta ahora solo había oído de ti,<br />pero ahora te he visto con mis propios ojos.

My ears had heard of you but now my eyes have seen you.
6 Me retracto de todo lo que dije,<br />y me siento en polvo y ceniza en señal de arrepentimiento».

Therefore I despise myself and repent in dust and ashes.”
7 Conclusión: el Señor<br /> bendice a Job<br />Después de que el Señor<br /> terminó de hablar con Job, le dijo a Elifaz el temanita: «Estoy enojado contigo y con tus dos amigos, porque no hablaron con exactitud acerca de mí, como lo hizo mi siervo Job.

After the LORD had said these things to Job, he said to Eliphaz the Temanite, “I am angry with you and your two friends, because you have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.
8 Así que, tomen siete toros y siete carneros, vayan a mi siervo Job y ofrezcan una ofrenda quemada por ustedes mismos. Mi siervo Job orará, y yo aceptaré la oración a favor de ustedes. No los trataré como se merecen, a pesar de no haber hablado de mí con exactitud, como lo hizo mi siervo Job».

So now take seven bulls and seven rams and go to my servant Job and sacrifice a burnt offering for yourselves. My servant Job will pray for you, and I will accept his prayer and not deal with you according to your folly. You have not spoken the truth about me, as my servant Job has.”
9 Así que Elifaz el temanita, Bildad el suhita y Zofar el naamatita, hicieron lo que el Señor<br /> les mandó, y el Señor<br /> aceptó la oración de Job.

So Eliphaz the Temanite, Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite did what the LORD told them; and the LORD accepted Job’s prayer.
10 Cuando Job oró por sus amigos, el Señor<br /> le restauró su bienestar. Es más, ¡el Señor<br /> le dio el doble de lo que antes tenía!

After Job had prayed for his friends, the LORD restored his fortunes and gave him twice as much as he had before.
11 Entonces todos sus hermanos, hermanas y anteriores amigos vinieron y festejaron con él en su casa. Lo consolaron y lo alentaron por todas las pruebas que el Señor<br /> había enviado en su contra; y cada uno de ellos le regaló dinero<br /> y un anillo de oro.

All his brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him before came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him over all the trouble the LORD had brought on him, and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring.
12 Así que el Señor<br /> bendijo a Job en la segunda mitad de su vida aún más que al principio. Pues ahora tenía catorce mil ovejas, seis mil camellos, mil yuntas de bueyes y mil burras.

The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.
13 Además dio a Job otros siete hijos y tres hijas.

And he also had seven sons and three daughters.
14 Llamó a su primera hija Jemina, a la segunda Cesia y a la tercera Keren-hapuc.

The first daughter he named Jemimah, the second Keziah and the third Keren-Happuch.
15 En toda la tierra no había mujeres tan bellas como las hijas de Job, y su padre les dejó una herencia en su testamento junto con sus hermanos.

Nowhere in all the land were there found women as beautiful as Job’s daughters, and their father granted them an inheritance along with their brothers.
16 Después de esto, Job vivió ciento cuarenta años y pudo ver a cuatro generaciones de sus hijos y nietos.

After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years; he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.
17 Luego murió siendo muy anciano, después de vivir una vida larga y plena.

And so Job died, an old man and full of years.
