John 11:30-40

NRS 30 Now Jesus had not yet come to the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. NIV 30 Now Jesus had not yet entered the village, but was still at the place where Martha had met him. NRS 31 The Jews who were with her in the house, consoling her, saw Mary get up quickly and go out. They followed her because they thought that she was going to the tomb to weep there. NIV 31 When the Jews who had been with Mary in the house, comforting her, noticed how quickly she got up and went out, they followed her, supposing she was going to the tomb to mourn there. NRS 32 When Mary came where Jesus was and saw him, she knelt at his feet and said to him, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." NIV 32 When Mary reached the place where Jesus was and saw him, she fell at his feet and said, "Lord, if you had been here, my brother would not have died." NRS 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her also weeping, he was greatly disturbed in spirit and deeply moved. NIV 33 When Jesus saw her weeping, and the Jews who had come along with her also weeping, he was deeply moved in spirit and troubled. NRS 34 He said, "Where have you laid him?" They said to him, "Lord, come and see." NIV 34 "Where have you laid him?" he asked. "Come and see, Lord," they replied. NRS 35 Jesus began to weep. NIV 35 Jesus wept. NRS 36 So the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" NIV 36 Then the Jews said, "See how he loved him!" NRS 37 But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?" NIV 37 But some of them said, "Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?" NRS 38 Then Jesus, again greatly disturbed, came to the tomb. It was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. NIV 38 Jesus, once more deeply moved, came to the tomb. It was a cave with a stone laid across the entrance. NRS 39 Jesus said, "Take away the stone." Martha, the sister of the dead man, said to him, "Lord, already there is a stench because he has been dead four days." NIV 39 "Take away the stone," he said. "But, Lord," said Martha, the sister of the dead man, "by this time there is a bad odor, for he has been there four days." NRS 40 Jesus said to her, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?" NIV 40 Then Jesus said, "Did I not tell you that if you believed, you would see the glory of God?"
