John 1:35-42

RSV 35 The next day again John was standing with two of his disciples; NIV 35 The next day John was there again with two of his disciples. RSV 36 and he looked at Jesus as he walked, and said, "Behold, the Lamb of God!" NIV 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, "Look, the Lamb of God!" RSV 38 Jesus turned, and saw them following, and said to them, "What do you seek?" And they said to him, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" NIV 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, "What do you want?" They said, "Rabbi" (which means Teacher), "where are you staying?" RSV 39 He said to them, "Come and see." They came and saw where he was staying; and they stayed with him that day, for it was about the tenth hour. NIV 39 "Come," he replied, "and you will see." So they went and saw where he was staying, and spent that day with him. It was about the tenth hour. RSV 40 One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. NIV 40 Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. RSV 41 He first found his brother Simon, and said to him, "We have found the Messiah" (which means Christ). NIV 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, "We have found the Messiah" (that is, the Christ). RSV 42 He brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him, and said, "So you are Simon the son of John? You shall be called Cephas" (which means Peter). NIV 42 And he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, "You are Simon son of John. You will be called Cephas" (which, when translated, is Peter ).
