John 21:1-14

NLT 1 Later, Jesus appeared again to the disciples beside the Sea of Galilee. This is how it happened. NIV 1 Afterward Jesus appeared again to his disciples, by the Sea of Tiberias. It happened this way: NLT 2 Several of the disciples were there—Simon Peter, Thomas (nicknamed the Twin), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples. NIV 2 Simon Peter, Thomas (called Didymus), Nathanael from Cana in Galilee, the sons of Zebedee, and two other disciples were together. NLT 3 Simon Peter said, “I’m going fishing.” “We’ll come, too,” they all said. So they went out in the boat, but they caught nothing all night. NIV 3 "I'm going out to fish," Simon Peter told them, and they said, "We'll go with you." So they went out and got into the boat, but that night they caught nothing. NLT 4 At dawn Jesus was standing on the beach, but the disciples couldn’t see who he was. NIV 4 Early in the morning, Jesus stood on the shore, but the disciples did not realize that it was Jesus. NLT 5 He called out, “Fellows, have you caught any fish?” “No,” they replied. NIV 5 He called out to them, "Friends, haven't you any fish?" "No," they answered. NLT 6 Then he said, “Throw out your net on the right-hand side of the boat, and you’ll get some!” So they did, and they couldn’t haul in the net because there were so many fish in it. NIV 6 He said, "Throw your net on the right side of the boat and you will find some." When they did, they were unable to haul the net in because of the large number of fish. NLT 7 Then the disciple Jesus loved said to Peter, “It’s the Lord!” When Simon Peter heard that it was the Lord, he put on his tunic (for he had stripped for work), jumped into the water, and headed to shore. NIV 7 Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, "It is the Lord!" As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, "It is the Lord," he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water. NLT 8 The others stayed with the boat and pulled the loaded net to the shore, for they were only about a hundred yards from shore. NIV 8 The other disciples followed in the boat, towing the net full of fish, for they were not far from shore, about a hundred yards. NLT 9 When they got there, they found breakfast waiting for them—fish cooking over a charcoal fire, and some bread. NIV 9 When they landed, they saw a fire of burning coals there with fish on it, and some bread. NLT 10 “Bring some of the fish you’ve just caught,” Jesus said. NIV 10 Jesus said to them, "Bring some of the fish you have just caught." NLT 11 So Simon Peter went aboard and dragged the net to the shore. There were 153 large fish, and yet the net hadn’t torn. NIV 11 Simon Peter climbed aboard and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn. NLT 12 “Now come and have some breakfast!” Jesus said. None of the disciples dared to ask him, “Who are you?” They knew it was the Lord. NIV 12 Jesus said to them, "Come and have breakfast." None of the disciples dared ask him, "Who are you?" They knew it was the Lord. NLT 13 Then Jesus served them the bread and the fish. NIV 13 Jesus came, took the bread and gave it to them, and did the same with the fish. NLT 14 This was the third time Jesus had appeared to his disciples since he had been raised from the dead. NIV 14 This was now the third time Jesus appeared to his disciples after he was raised from the dead.
