NKJV 1 Remember, O Lord, what has come upon us; Look, and behold our reproach! NIV 1 Remember, O LORD, what has happened to us; look, and see our disgrace. NKJV 5 They pursue at our heels; We labor and have no rest. NIV 5 Those who pursue us are at our heels; we are weary and find no rest. NKJV 6 We have given our hand to the Egyptians And the Assyrians, to be satisfied with bread. NIV 6 We submitted to Egypt and Assyria to get enough bread. NKJV 7 Our fathers sinned and are no more, But we bear their iniquities. NIV 7 Our fathers sinned and are no more, and we bear their punishment. NKJV 8 Servants rule over us; There is none to deliver us from their hand. NIV 8 Slaves rule over us, and there is none to free us from their hands. NKJV 12 Princes were hung up by their hands, And elders were not respected. NIV 12 Princes have been hung up by their hands; elders are shown no respect. NKJV 13 Young men ground at the millstones; Boys staggered under loads of wood. NIV 13 Young men toil at the millstones; boys stagger under loads of wood. NKJV 14 The elders have ceased gathering at the gate, And the young men from their music. NIV 14 The elders are gone from the city gate; the young men have stopped their music. NKJV 15 The joy of our heart has ceased; Our dance has turned into mourning. NIV 15 Joy is gone from our hearts; our dancing has turned to mourning. NKJV 16 The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned! NIV 16 The crown has fallen from our head. Woe to us, for we have sinned! NKJV 17 Because of this our heart is faint; Because of these things our eyes grow dim; NIV 17 Because of this our hearts are faint, because of these things our eyes grow dim NKJV 18 Because of Mount Zion which is desolate, With foxes walking about on it. NIV 18 for Mount Zion, which lies desolate, with jackals prowling over it. NKJV 19 You, O Lord, remain forever; Your throne from generation to generation. NIV 19 You, O LORD, reign forever; your throne endures from generation to generation. NKJV 20 Why do You forget us forever, And forsake us for so long a time? NIV 20 Why do you always forget us? Why do you forsake us so long? NKJV 21 Turn us back to You, O Lord, and we will be restored; Renew our days as of old, NIV 21 Restore us to yourself, O LORD, that we may return; renew our days as of old NKJV 22 Unless You have utterly rejected us, And are very angry with us! NIV 22 unless you have utterly rejected us and are angry with us beyond measure.
