Leviticus 23

CSB 1 The Lord spoke to Moses: NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, CSB 2 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: These are My appointed times, the times of the Lord that you will proclaim as sacred assemblies. NIV 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. CSB 3 "For six days work may be done, but on the seventh day there must be a Sabbath of complete rest, a sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; it is a Sabbath to the Lord wherever you live. NIV 3 " 'There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD. CSB 4 "These are the Lord's appointed times, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times NIV 4 " 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times:#cr CSB 5 The Passover to the Lord comes in the first month, at twilight on the fourteenth day of the month. NIV 5 The LORD's Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. CSB 6 The Festival of Unleavened Bread to the Lord is on the fifteenth day of the same month. For seven days you must eat unleavened bread. NIV 6 On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. CSB 7 On the first day you are to hold a sacred assembly; you are not to do any daily work. NIV 7 On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. CSB 8 You are to present a fire offering to the Lord for seven days. On the seventh day there will be a sacred assembly; you must not do any daily work." NIV 8 For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.' " CSB 9 The Lord spoke to Moses: NIV 9 The LORD said to Moses, CSB 10 "Speak to the Israelites and tell them: When you enter the land I am giving you and reap its harvest, you are to bring the first sheaf of your harvest to the priest. NIV 10 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. CSB 11 He will wave the sheaf before the Lord so that you may be accepted; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. NIV 11 He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. CSB 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you are to offer a year-old male lamb without blemish as a burnt offering to the Lord. NIV 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the LORD a lamb a year old without defect, CSB 13 Its grain offering is to be four quarts of fine flour mixed with oil as a fire offering to the Lord, a pleasing aroma, and its drink offering will be one quart of wine. NIV 13 together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil--an offering made to the LORD by fire, a pleasing aroma--and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine. CSB 14 You must not eat bread, roasted grain, or [any] new grain until this very day, and you have brought the offering of your God. This is to be a permanent statute throughout your generations wherever you live. NIV 14 You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. CSB 15 "You are to count seven complete weeks starting from the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the presentation offering. NIV 15 " 'From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. CSB 16 You are to count 50 days until the day after the seventh Sabbath and then present an offering of new grain to the Lord. NIV 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD. CSB 17 Bring two loaves of bread from your settlements as a presentation offering, each of them made from four quarts of fine flour, baked with yeast, as firstfruits to the Lord. NIV 17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the LORD. CSB 18 You are to present with the bread seven unblemished male lambs a year old, one young bull, and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the Lord, with their grain offerings and drink offerings, a fire offering of a pleasing aroma to the Lord. NIV 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings--an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. CSB 19 You are also to prepare one male goat as a sin offering, and two male lambs a year old as a fellowship sacrifice NIV 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering.#fn CSB 20 The priest will wave the lambs with the bread of firstfruits as a presentation offering before the Lord; the bread and the two lambs will be holy to the Lord for the priest. NIV 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before the LORD as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the LORD for the priest. CSB 21 On that same day you are to make a proclamation and hold a sacred assembly. You are not to do any daily work. This is to be a permanent statute wherever you live throughout your generations NIV 21 On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live CSB 22 When you reap the harvest of your land, you are not to reap all the way to the edge of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the foreign resident; I am the Lord your God." NIV 22 " 'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.' " CSB 23 The Lord spoke to Moses: NIV 23 The LORD said to Moses, CSB 24 "Tell the Israelites: In the seventh month, on the first [day] of the month, you are to have a day of complete rest, commemoration and jubilation-a sacred assembly. NIV 24 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. CSB 25 You must not do any daily work, but you must present a fire offering to the Lord." NIV 25 Do no regular work, but present an offering made to the LORD by fire.' " CSB 26 The Lord again spoke to Moses: NIV 26 The LORD said to Moses, CSB 27 "The tenth [day] of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. You are to hold a sacred assembly and practice self-denial; you are to present a fire offering to the Lord. NIV 27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. CSB 28 On this particular day you are not to do any work, for it is a Day of Atonement to make atonement for yourselves before the Lord your God. NIV 28 Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. CSB 29 If any person does not practice self-denial on this particular day, he must be cut off from his people. NIV 29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. CSB 30 I will destroy among his people anyone who does any work on this same day. NIV 30 I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. CSB 31 You are not to do any work. This is a permanent statute throughout your generations wherever you live. NIV 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. CSB 32 It will be a Sabbath of complete rest for you, and you must practice self-denial. You are to observe your Sabbath from the evening of the ninth [day] of the month until the [following] evening." NIV 32 It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath." CSB 33 The Lord spoke to Moses: NIV 33 The LORD said to Moses, CSB 34 "Tell the Israelites: The Festival of Booths to the Lord begins on the fifteenth day of this seventh month and continues for seven days. NIV 34 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the LORD's Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. CSB 35 There is to be a sacred assembly on the first day; you are not to do any daily work. NIV 35 The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. CSB 36 You are to present a fire offering to the Lord for seven days. On the eighth day you are to hold a sacred assembly and present a fire offering to the Lord. It is a solemn gathering; you are not to do any daily work. NIV 36 For seven days present offerings made to the LORD by fire, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. It is the closing assembly; do no regular work CSB 37 "These are the Lord's appointed times that you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for presenting fire offerings to the Lord, burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings, each on its [designated] day. NIV 37 (" 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing offerings made to the LORD by fire--the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. CSB 38 These are in addition to the offerings for the Lord's Sabbaths, your gifts, all your vow offerings, and all your freewill offerings that you give to the Lord. NIV 38 These offerings are in addition to those for the LORD's Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the LORD. CSB 39 "You are to celebrate the Lord's festival on the fifteenth day of the seventh month for seven days after you have gathered the produce of the land. There will be complete rest on the first day and complete rest on the eighth day. NIV 39 " 'So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the LORD for seven days; the first day is a day of rest, and the eighth day also is a day of rest. CSB 40 On the first day you are to take the product of majestic trees-palm fronds, boughs of leafy trees, and willows of the brook-and rejoice before the Lord your God for seven days. NIV 40 On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. CSB 41 You are to celebrate it as a festival to the Lord seven days each year. This is a permanent statute for you throughout your generations; you must celebrate it in the seventh month. NIV 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. CSB 42 You are to live in booths for seven days. All the native-born of Israel must live in booths, NIV 42 Live in booths for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in booths CSB 43 so that your generations may know that I made the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of the land of Egypt; I am the Lord your God." NIV 43 so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.' " CSB 44 So Moses declared the Lord's appointed times to the Israelites. NIV 44 So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the LORD.
