Leviticus 23

HNV 1 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, HNV 2 Speak to the children of Yisra'el, and tell them, The set feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, even these are my set feasts. NIV 2 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies. HNV 3 Six days shall work be done: but on the seventh day is a Shabbat of solemn rest, a holy convocation; you shall do no manner of work: it is a Shabbat to the LORD in all your dwellings. NIV 3 " 'There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD. HNV 4 These are the set feasts of the LORD, even holy convocations, which you shall proclaim in their appointed season NIV 4 " 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, the sacred assemblies you are to proclaim at their appointed times:#cr HNV 5 In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at even, is the LORD's Pesach. NIV 5 The LORD's Passover begins at twilight on the fourteenth day of the first month. HNV 6 On the fifteenth day of the same month is the feast of matzah to the LORD: seven days you shall eat matzah. NIV 6 On the fifteenth day of that month the LORD's Feast of Unleavened Bread begins; for seven days you must eat bread made without yeast. HNV 7 In the first day you shall have a holy convocation: you shall do no servile work. NIV 7 On the first day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work. HNV 8 But you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD seven days: in the seventh day is a holy convocation; you shall do no servile work. NIV 8 For seven days present an offering made to the LORD by fire. And on the seventh day hold a sacred assembly and do no regular work.' " HNV 9 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 9 The LORD said to Moses, HNV 10 Speak to the children of Yisra'el, and tell them, When you are come into the land which I give to you, and shall reap the harvest of it, then you shall bring the sheaf of the first fruits of your harvest to the Kohen: NIV 10 "Speak to the Israelites and say to them: 'When you enter the land I am going to give you and you reap its harvest, bring to the priest a sheaf of the first grain you harvest. HNV 11 and he shall wave the sheaf before the LORD, to be accepted for you: on the next day after the Shabbat the Kohen shall wave it. NIV 11 He is to wave the sheaf before the LORD so it will be accepted on your behalf; the priest is to wave it on the day after the Sabbath. HNV 12 In the day when you wave the sheaf, you shall offer a he-lamb without blemish a year old for a burnt offering to the LORD. NIV 12 On the day you wave the sheaf, you must sacrifice as a burnt offering to the LORD a lamb a year old without defect, HNV 13 The meal-offering of it shall be two tenth parts [of an efah] of fine flour mixed with oil, an offering made by fire to the LORD for a sweet savor; and the drink-offering of it shall be of wine, the fourth part of a hin. NIV 13 together with its grain offering of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour mixed with oil--an offering made to the LORD by fire, a pleasing aroma--and its drink offering of a quarter of a hin of wine. HNV 14 You shall eat neither bread, nor parched grain, nor fresh ears, until this same day, until you have brought the offering of your God: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings NIV 14 You must not eat any bread, or roasted or new grain, until the very day you bring this offering to your God. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. HNV 15 You shall count to you from the next day after the Shabbat, from the day that you brought the sheaf of the wave-offering; seven Shabbatot shall there be complete: NIV 15 " 'From the day after the Sabbath, the day you brought the sheaf of the wave offering, count off seven full weeks. HNV 16 even to the next day after the seventh Shabbat shall you number fifty days; and you shall offer a new meal-offering to the LORD. NIV 16 Count off fifty days up to the day after the seventh Sabbath, and then present an offering of new grain to the LORD. HNV 17 You shall bring out of your habitations two wave-loaves of two tenth parts [of an efah]: they shall be of fine flour, they shall be baked with yeast, for first fruits to the LORD. NIV 17 From wherever you live, bring two loaves made of two-tenths of an ephah of fine flour, baked with yeast, as a wave offering of firstfruits to the LORD. HNV 18 You shall present with the bread seven lambs without blemish a year old, and one young bull, and two rams: they shall be a burnt offering to the LORD, with their meal-offering, and their drink-offerings, even an offering made by fire, of a sweet savor to the LORD. NIV 18 Present with this bread seven male lambs, each a year old and without defect, one young bull and two rams. They will be a burnt offering to the LORD, together with their grain offerings and drink offerings--an offering made by fire, an aroma pleasing to the LORD. HNV 19 You shall offer one male goat for a sin-offering, and two he-lambs a year old for a sacrifice of peace-offerings NIV 19 Then sacrifice one male goat for a sin offering and two lambs, each a year old, for a fellowship offering.#fn HNV 20 The Kohen shall wave them with the bread of the first fruits for a wave-offering before the LORD, with the two lambs: they shall be holy to the LORD for the Kohen. NIV 20 The priest is to wave the two lambs before the LORD as a wave offering, together with the bread of the firstfruits. They are a sacred offering to the LORD for the priest. HNV 21 You shall make proclamation on the same day; there shall be a holy convocation to you; you shall do no servile work: it is a statute forever in all your dwellings throughout your generations NIV 21 On that same day you are to proclaim a sacred assembly and do no regular work. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live HNV 22 When you reap the harvest of your land, you shall not wholly reap the corners of your field, neither shall you gather the gleaning of your harvest: you shall leave them for the poor, and for the sojourner: I am the LORD your God. NIV 22 " 'When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and the alien. I am the LORD your God.' " HNV 23 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 23 The LORD said to Moses, HNV 24 Speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, In the seventh month, on the first day of the month, shall be a solemn rest to you, a memorial of blowing of trumpets, a holy convocation. NIV 24 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the first day of the seventh month you are to have a day of rest, a sacred assembly commemorated with trumpet blasts. HNV 25 You shall do no servile work; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. NIV 25 Do no regular work, but present an offering made to the LORD by fire.' " HNV 26 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 26 The LORD said to Moses, HNV 27 However on the tenth day of this seventh month is Yom Kippur: it shall be a holy convocation to you, and you shall afflict your souls; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD. NIV 27 "The tenth day of this seventh month is the Day of Atonement. Hold a sacred assembly and deny yourselves, and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. HNV 28 You shall do no manner of work in that same day; for it is Yom Kippura day of atonement, to make atonement for you before the LORD your God. NIV 28 Do no work on that day, because it is the Day of Atonement, when atonement is made for you before the LORD your God. HNV 29 For whatever soul it be who shall not be afflicted in that same day; he shall be cut off from his people. NIV 29 Anyone who does not deny himself on that day must be cut off from his people. HNV 30 Whatever soul it be who does any manner of work in that same day, that soul will I destroy from among his people. NIV 30 I will destroy from among his people anyone who does any work on that day. HNV 31 You shall do no manner of work: it is a statute forever throughout your generations in all your dwellings. NIV 31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live. HNV 32 It shall be to you a Shabbat of solemn rest, and you shall afflict your souls: in the ninth day of the month at even, from even to even, shall you keep your Shabbat. NIV 32 It is a sabbath of rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your sabbath." HNV 33 The LORD spoke to Moshe, saying, NIV 33 The LORD said to Moses, HNV 34 Speak to the children of Yisra'el, saying, On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of booths for seven days to the LORD. NIV 34 "Say to the Israelites: 'On the fifteenth day of the seventh month the LORD's Feast of Tabernacles begins, and it lasts for seven days. HNV 35 On the first day shall be a holy convocation: you shall do no servile work. NIV 35 The first day is a sacred assembly; do no regular work. HNV 36 Seven days you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD: on the eighth day shall be a holy convocation to you; and you shall offer an offering made by fire to the LORD: it is a solemn assembly; you shall do no servile work NIV 36 For seven days present offerings made to the LORD by fire, and on the eighth day hold a sacred assembly and present an offering made to the LORD by fire. It is the closing assembly; do no regular work HNV 37 These are the set feasts of the LORD, which you shall proclaim to be holy convocations, to offer an offering made by fire to the LORD, a burnt offering, and a meal-offering, a sacrifice, and drink-offerings, each on its own day; NIV 37 (" 'These are the LORD's appointed feasts, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies for bringing offerings made to the LORD by fire--the burnt offerings and grain offerings, sacrifices and drink offerings required for each day. HNV 38 besides the Shabbatot of the LORD, and besides your gifts, and besides all your vows, and besides all your freewill-offerings, which you give to the LORD NIV 38 These offerings are in addition to those for the LORD's Sabbaths and in addition to your gifts and whatever you have vowed and all the freewill offerings you give to the LORD. HNV 39 However on the fifteenth day of the seventh month, when you have gathered in the fruits of the land, you shall keep the feast of the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a solemn rest, and on the eighth day shall be a solemn rest. NIV 39 " 'So beginning with the fifteenth day of the seventh month, after you have gathered the crops of the land, celebrate the festival to the LORD for seven days; the first day is a day of rest, and the eighth day also is a day of rest. HNV 40 You shall take on the first day the fruit of goodly trees, branches of palm trees, and boughs of thick trees, and willows of the brook; and you shall rejoice before the LORD your God seven days. NIV 40 On the first day you are to take choice fruit from the trees, and palm fronds, leafy branches and poplars, and rejoice before the LORD your God for seven days. HNV 41 You shall keep it a feast to the LORD seven days in the year: it is a statute forever throughout your generations; you shall keep it in the seventh month. NIV 41 Celebrate this as a festival to the LORD for seven days each year. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come; celebrate it in the seventh month. HNV 42 You shall dwell in booths seven days; all who are home-born in Yisra'el shall dwell in booths; NIV 42 Live in booths for seven days: All native-born Israelites are to live in booths HNV 43 that your generations may know that I made the children of Yisra'el to dwell in booths, when I brought them out of the land of Mitzrayim: I am the LORD your God. NIV 43 so your descendants will know that I had the Israelites live in booths when I brought them out of Egypt. I am the LORD your God.' " HNV 44 Moshe declared to the children of Yisra'el the set feasts of the LORD. NIV 44 So Moses announced to the Israelites the appointed feasts of the LORD.
