Leviticus 24:1-9

RSV 1 The LORD said to Moses, NIV 1 The LORD said to Moses, RSV 2 "Command the people of Israel to bring you pure oil from beaten olives for the lamp, that a light may be kept burning continually. NIV 2 "Command the Israelites to bring you clear oil of pressed olives for the light so that the lamps may be kept burning continually. RSV 3 Outside the veil of the testimony, in the tent of meeting, Aaron shall keep it in order from evening to morning before the LORD continually; it shall be a statute for ever throughout your generations. NIV 3 Outside the curtain of the Testimony in the Tent of Meeting, Aaron is to tend the lamps before the LORD from evening till morning, continually. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come. RSV 4 He shall keep the lamps in order upon the lampstand of pure gold before the LORD continually. NIV 4 The lamps on the pure gold lampstand before the LORD must be tended continually. RSV 5 "And you shall take fine flour, and bake twelve cakes of it; two tenths of an ephah shall be in each cake. NIV 5 "Take fine flour and bake twelve loaves of bread, using two-tenths of an ephah for each loaf. RSV 6 And you shall set them in two rows, six in a row, upon the table of pure gold. NIV 6 Set them in two rows, six in each row, on the table of pure gold before the LORD. RSV 7 And you shall put pure frankincense with each row, that it may go with the bread as a memorial portion to be offered by fire to the LORD. NIV 7 Along each row put some pure incense as a memorial portion to represent the bread and to be an offering made to the LORD by fire. RSV 8 Every sabbath day Aaron shall set it in order before the LORD continually on behalf of the people of Israel as a covenant for ever. NIV 8 This bread is to be set out before the LORD regularly, Sabbath after Sabbath, on behalf of the Israelites, as a lasting covenant. RSV 9 And it shall be for Aaron and his sons, and they shall eat it in a holy place, since it is for him a most holy portion out of the offerings by fire to the LORD, a perpetual due." NIV 9 It belongs to Aaron and his sons, who are to eat it in a holy place, because it is a most holy part of their regular share of the offerings made to the LORD by fire."
