Leviticus 26:27-45

NLT 27 "If after this you still refuse to listen and still remain hostile toward me, NIV 27 " 'If in spite of this you still do not listen to me but continue to be hostile toward me, NLT 28 then I will give full vent to my hostility. I will punish you seven times over for your sins. NIV 28 then in my anger I will be hostile toward you, and I myself will punish you for your sins seven times over. NLT 29 You will eat the flesh of your own sons and daughters. NIV 29 You will eat the flesh of your sons and the flesh of your daughters. NLT 30 I will destroy your pagan shrines and cut down your incense altars. I will leave your corpses piled up beside your lifeless idols, and I will despise you. NIV 30 I will destroy your high places, cut down your incense altars and pile your dead bodies on the lifeless forms of your idols, and I will abhor you. NLT 31 I will make your cities desolate and destroy your places of worship, and I will take no pleasure in your offerings of incense. NIV 31 I will turn your cities into ruins and lay waste your sanctuaries, and I will take no delight in the pleasing aroma of your offerings. NLT 32 Yes, I myself will devastate your land. Your enemies who come to occupy it will be utterly shocked at the destruction they see. NIV 32 I will lay waste the land, so that your enemies who live there will be appalled. NLT 33 I will scatter you among the nations and attack you with my own weapons. Your land will become desolate, and your cities will lie in ruins. NIV 33 I will scatter you among the nations and will draw out my sword and pursue you. Your land will be laid waste, and your cities will lie in ruins. NLT 34 Then at last the land will make up for its missed Sabbath years as it lies desolate during your years of exile in the land of your enemies. Then the land will finally rest and enjoy its Sabbaths. NIV 34 Then the land will enjoy its sabbath years all the time that it lies desolate and you are in the country of your enemies; then the land will rest and enjoy its sabbaths. NLT 35 As the land lies in ruins, it will take the rest you never allowed it to take every seventh year while you lived in it." NIV 35 All the time that it lies desolate, the land will have the rest it did not have during the sabbaths you lived in it. NLT 36 "And for those of you who survive, I will demoralize you in the land of your enemies far away. You will live there in such constant fear that the sound of a leaf driven by the wind will send you fleeing. You will run as though chased by a warrior with a sword, and you will fall even when no one is pursuing you. NIV 36 " 'As for those of you who are left, I will make their hearts so fearful in the lands of their enemies that the sound of a windblown leaf will put them to flight. They will run as though fleeing from the sword, and they will fall, even though no one is pursuing them. NLT 37 Yes, though no one is chasing you, you will stumble over each other in flight, as though fleeing in battle. You will have no power to stand before your enemies. NIV 37 They will stumble over one another as though fleeing from the sword, even though no one is pursuing them. So you will not be able to stand before your enemies. NLT 38 You will die among the foreign nations and be devoured in the land of your enemies. NIV 38 You will perish among the nations; the land of your enemies will devour you. NLT 39 Those still left alive will rot away in enemy lands because of their sins and the sins of their ancestors." NIV 39 Those of you who are left will waste away in the lands of their enemies because of their sins; also because of their fathers' sins they will waste away. NLT 40 "But at last my people will confess their sins and the sins of their ancestors for betraying me and being hostile toward me. NIV 40 " 'But if they will confess their sins and the sins of their fathers--their treachery against me and their hostility toward me, NLT 41 Finally, when I have given full expression to my hostility and have brought them to the land of their enemies, then at last their disobedient hearts will be humbled, and they will pay for their sins. NIV 41 which made me hostile toward them so that I sent them into the land of their enemies--then when their uncircumcised hearts are humbled and they pay for their sin, NLT 42 Then I will remember my covenant with Jacob, with Isaac, and with Abraham, and I will remember the land. NIV 42 I will remember my covenant with Jacob and my covenant with Isaac and my covenant with Abraham, and I will remember the land. NLT 43 And the land will enjoy its years of Sabbath rest as it lies deserted. At last the people will receive the due punishment for their sins, for they rejected my regulations and despised my laws." NIV 43 For the land will be deserted by them and will enjoy its sabbaths while it lies desolate without them. They will pay for their sins because they rejected my laws and abhorred my decrees. NLT 44 "But despite all this, I will not utterly reject or despise them while they are in exile in the land of their enemies. I will not cancel my covenant with them by wiping them out. I, the LORD, am their God. NIV 44 Yet in spite of this, when they are in the land of their enemies, I will not reject them or abhor them so as to destroy them completely, breaking my covenant with them. I am the LORD their God. NLT 45 I will remember my ancient covenant with their ancestors, whom I brought out of Egypt while all the nations watched. I, the LORD, am their God." NIV 45 But for their sake I will remember the covenant with their ancestors whom I brought out of Egypt in the sight of the nations to be their God. I am the LORD.' "
