CEB 1 Jesus said to his disciples, "Things that cause people to trip and fall into sin must happen, but how terrible it is for the person through whom they happen. NIV 1 Jesus said to his disciples: "Things that cause people to sin are bound to come, but woe to that person through whom they come. CEB 2 It would be better for them to be thrown into a lake with a large stone hung around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to trip and fall into sin. NIV 2 It would be better for him to be thrown into the sea with a millstone tied around his neck than for him to cause one of these little ones to sin. CEB 3 Watch yourselves! If your brother or sister sins, warn them to stop. If they change their hearts and lives, forgive them. NIV 3 So watch yourselves. "If your brother sins, rebuke him, and if he repents, forgive him. CEB 4 Even if someone sins against you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times and says, ‘I am changing my ways,' you must forgive that person." CEB 8 Wouldn't you say instead, ‘Fix my dinner. Put on the clothes of a table servant and wait on me while I eat and drink. After that, you can eat and drink'? NIV 8 Would he not rather say, 'Prepare my supper, get yourself ready and wait on me while I eat and drink; after that you may eat and drink'? CEB 9 You won't thank the servant because the servant did what you asked, will you? NIV 9 Would he thank the servant because he did what he was told to do? CEB 10 In the same way, when you have done everything required of you, you should say, ‘We servants deserve no special praise. We have only done our duty.'" NIV 20 Once, having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, "The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, CEB 21 Nor will people say, ‘Look, here it is!' or ‘There it is!' Don't you see? God's kingdom is already among you." NIV 21 nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'There it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you." CEB 22 Then Jesus said to the disciples, “The time will come when you will long to see one of the days of the Human One, and you won't see it. CEB 24 The Human One will appear on his day in the same way that a flash of lightning lights up the sky from one end to the other.
