Luke 20:22-32

RSV 22 Is it lawful for us to give tribute to Caesar, or not?" NIV 22 Is it right for us to pay taxes to Caesar or not?" RSV 23 But he perceived their craftiness, and said to them, NIV 23 He saw through their duplicity and said to them, RSV 24 "Show me a coin. Whose likeness and inscription has it?" They said, "Caesar's." NIV 24 "Show me a denarius. Whose portrait and inscription are on it?" RSV 25 He said to them, "Then render to Caesar the things that are Caesar's, and to God the things that are God's." NIV 25 "Caesar's," they replied. He said to them, "Then give to Caesar what is Caesar's, and to God what is God's." RSV 26 And they were not able in the presence of the people to catch him by what he said; but marveling at his answer they were silent. NIV 26 They were unable to trap him in what he had said there in public. And astonished by his answer, they became silent. RSV 27 There came to him some Sadducees, those who say that there is no resurrection, NIV 27 Some of the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection, came to Jesus with a question. RSV 28 and they asked him a question, saying, "Teacher, Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies, having a wife but no children, the man must take the wife and raise up children for his brother. NIV 28 "Teacher," they said, "Moses wrote for us that if a man's brother dies and leaves a wife but no children, the man must marry the widow and have children for his brother. RSV 29 Now there were seven brothers; the first took a wife, and died without children; NIV 29 Now there were seven brothers. The first one married a woman and died childless. RSV 30 and the second NIV 30 The second RSV 31 and the third took her, and likewise all seven left no children and died. NIV 31 and then the third married her, and in the same way the seven died, leaving no children. RSV 32 Afterward the woman also died. NIV 32 Finally, the woman died too.
