Luke 2:1-20

NAS 1 Now in those days a decree went out from Caesar Augustus, that a census be taken of all the inhabited earth. NIV 1 In those days Caesar Augustus issued a decree that a census should be taken of the entire Roman world. NAS 2 This was the first census taken while Quirinius was governor of Syria. NIV 2 (This was the first census that took place while Quirinius was governor of Syria.) NAS 3 And everyone was on his way to register for the census, each to his own city. NIV 3 And everyone went to his own town to register. NAS 4 Joseph also went up from Galilee, from the city of Nazareth, to Judea, to the city of David which is called Bethlehem, because he was of the house and family of David, NIV 4 So Joseph also went up from the town of Nazareth in Galilee to Judea, to Bethlehem the town of David, because he belonged to the house and line of David. NAS 5 in order to register along with Mary, who was engaged to him, and was with child. NIV 5 He went there to register with Mary, who was pledged to be married to him and was expecting a child. NAS 6 While they were there, the days were completed for her to give birth. NIV 6 While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, NAS 7 And she gave birth to her firstborn son; and she wrapped Him in cloths, and laid Him in a manger, because there was no room for them in the inn. NAS 13 And suddenly there appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying, NIV 13 Suddenly a great company of the heavenly host appeared with the angel, praising God and saying, NAS 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among men with whom He is pleased." NIV 14 "Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace to men on whom his favor rests." NAS 15 When the angels had gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds began saying to one another, "Let us go straight to Bethlehem then, and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us." NIV 15 When the angels had left them and gone into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, "Let's go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened, which the Lord has told us about." NAS 16 So they came in a hurry and found their way to Mary and Joseph, and the baby as He lay in the manger. NIV 16 So they hurried off and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby, who was lying in the manger. NAS 17 When they had seen this, they made known the statement which had been told them about this Child. NIV 17 When they had seen him, they spread the word concerning what had been told them about this child, NAS 18 And all who heard it wondered at the things which were told them by the shepherds. NIV 18 and all who heard it were amazed at what the shepherds said to them. NAS 19 But Mary treasured all these things, pondering them in her heart. NIV 19 But Mary treasured up all these things and pondered them in her heart. NAS 20 The shepherds went back, glorifying and praising God for all that they had heard and seen, just as had been told them. NIV 20 The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.
