Luke 6:1-6

GW 1 Once, on a day of worship, Jesus was walking through some grainfields. His disciples were picking the heads of grain, removing the husks, and eating the grain. NIV 1 One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and his disciples began to pick some heads of grain, rub them in their hands and eat the kernels. GW 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are your disciples doing something that is not right to do on the day of worship?" NIV 2 Some of the Pharisees asked, "Why are you doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?" GW 3 Jesus answered them, "Haven't you read what David did when he and his men were hungry? NIV 3 Jesus answered them, "Have you never read what David did when he and his companions were hungry? GW 4 Haven't you read how he went into the house of God, ate the bread of the presence, and gave some of it to the men who were with him? He had no right to eat those loaves. Only the priests have that right." NIV 4 He entered the house of God, and taking the consecrated bread, he ate what is lawful only for priests to eat. And he also gave some to his companions." GW 5 Then he added, "The Son of Man has authority over the day of worship." NIV 5 Then Jesus said to them, "The Son of Man is Lord of the Sabbath." GW 6 On another day of worship, Jesus went into a synagogue to teach. A man whose right hand was paralyzed was there. NIV 6 On another Sabbath he went into the synagogue and was teaching, and a man was there whose right hand was shriveled.
