WNT 1 After He had finished teaching all these things in the hearing of the people, He went into Capernaum. NIV 1 When Jesus had finished saying all this in the hearing of the people, he entered Capernaum. WNT 2 Here the servant of a certain Captain, a man dear to his master, was ill and at the point of death; NIV 2 There a centurion's servant, whom his master valued highly, was sick and about to die. WNT 3 and the Captain, hearing about Jesus, sent to Him some of the Jewish Elders, begging Him to come and restore his servant to health. NIV 3 The centurion heard of Jesus and sent some elders of the Jews to him, asking him to come and heal his servant. WNT 4 And they, when they came to Jesus, earnestly entreated Him, pleading, "He deserves to have this favour granted him, NIV 4 When they came to Jesus, they pleaded earnestly with him, "This man deserves to have you do this, WNT 5 for he loves our nation, and at his own expense he built our synagogue for us." NIV 5 because he loves our nation and has built our synagogue." WNT 6 Then Jesus went with them. But when He was not far from the house, the Captain sent friends to Him with the message: "Sir, do not trouble to come. I am not worthy of having you come under my roof; NIV 6 So Jesus went with them. He was not far from the house when the centurion sent friends to say to him: "Lord, don't trouble yourself, for I do not deserve to have you come under my roof.
