Luke 7:19-29

NAS 19 Summoning two of his disciples, John sent them to the Lord , saying, "Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?" NIV 19 he sent them to the Lord to ask, "Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?" NAS 20 When the men came to Him, they said, "John the Baptist has sent us to You, to ask, 'Are You the Expected One, or do we look for someone else?' " NIV 20 When the men came to Jesus, they said, "John the Baptist sent us to you to ask, 'Are you the one who was to come, or should we expect someone else?' " NAS 21 At that very time He cured many people of diseases and afflictions and evil spirits; and He gave sight to many who were blind. NIV 21 At that very time Jesus cured many who had diseases, sicknesses and evil spirits, and gave sight to many who were blind. NAS 22 And He answered and said to them, "Go and report to John what you have seen and heard: the BLIND RECEIVE SIGHT, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, the POOR HAVE THE GOSPEL PREACHED TO THEM. NIV 22 So he replied to the messengers, "Go back and report to John what you have seen and heard: The blind receive sight, the lame walk, those who have leprosy are cured, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the good news is preached to the poor. NAS 23 "Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me." NIV 23 Blessed is the man who does not fall away on account of me." NAS 24 When the messengers of John had left, He began to speak to the crowds about John, "What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? NIV 24 After John's messengers left, Jesus began to speak to the crowd about John: "What did you go out into the desert to see? A reed swayed by the wind? NAS 25 "But what did you go out to see? A man dressed in soft clothing? Those who are splendidly clothed and live in luxury are found in royal palaces! NIV 25 If not, what did you go out to see? A man dressed in fine clothes? No, those who wear expensive clothes and indulge in luxury are in palaces. NAS 26 "But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and one who is more than a prophet. NIV 26 But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I tell you, and more than a prophet. NAS 27 "This is the one about whom it is written, 'BEHOLD, I SEND MY MESSENGER AHEAD OF YOU, WHO WILL PREPARE YOUR WAY BEFORE YOU.' NIV 27 This is the one about whom it is written: " 'I will send my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way before you.' NAS 28 "I say to you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet he who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." NIV 28 I tell you, among those born of women there is no one greater than John; yet the one who is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he." NAS 29 When all the people and the tax collectors heard this, they acknowledged God's justice, having been baptized with the baptism of John. NIV 29 (All the people, even the tax collectors, when they heard Jesus' words, acknowledged that God's way was right, because they had been baptized by John.
