ESV 32 And they went to a place called Gethsemane. And he said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." NIV 32 They went to a place called Gethsemane, and Jesus said to his disciples, "Sit here while I pray." ESV 33 And he took with him Peter and James and John, and began to be greatly distressed and troubled. NIV 33 He took Peter, James and John along with him, and he began to be deeply distressed and troubled. ESV 34 And he said to them, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death. Remain here and watch." NIV 34 "My soul is overwhelmed with sorrow to the point of death," he said to them. "Stay here and keep watch." ESV 37 And he came and found them sleeping, and he said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch one hour? NIV 37 Then he returned to his disciples and found them sleeping. "Simon," he said to Peter, "are you asleep? Could you not keep watch for one hour? ESV 38 Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." NIV 38 Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the body is weak." ESV 39 And again he went away and prayed, saying the same words. NIV 39 Once more he went away and prayed the same thing. ESV 40 And again he came and found them sleeping, for their eyes were very heavy, and they did not know what to answer him. NIV 40 When he came back, he again found them sleeping, because their eyes were heavy. They did not know what to say to him. ESV 41 And he came the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and taking your rest? It is enough; the hour has come. The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. NIV 41 Returning the third time, he said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? Enough! The hour has come. Look, the Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinners. ESV 42 Rise, let us be going; see, my betrayer is at hand." NIV 42 Rise! Let us go! Here comes my betrayer!"
