Mark 14:43-50

ESV 43 And immediately, while he was still speaking, Judas came, one of the twelve, and with him a crowd with swords and clubs, from the chief priests and the scribes and the elders. NIV 43 Just as he was speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, appeared. With him was a crowd armed with swords and clubs, sent from the chief priests, the teachers of the law, and the elders. ESV 44 Now the betrayer had given them a sign, saying, "The one I will kiss is the man. Seize him and lead him away under guard." NIV 44 Now the betrayer had arranged a signal with them: "The one I kiss is the man; arrest him and lead him away under guard." ESV 45 And when he came, he went up to him at once and said, "Rabbi!" And he kissed him. NIV 45 Going at once to Jesus, Judas said, "Rabbi!" and kissed him. ESV 46 And they laid hands on him and seized him. NIV 46 The men seized Jesus and arrested him. ESV 47 But one of those who stood by drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his ear. NIV 47 Then one of those standing near drew his sword and struck the servant of the high priest, cutting off his ear. ESV 48 And Jesus said to them, "Have you come out as against a robber, with swords and clubs to capture me? NIV 48 "Am I leading a rebellion," said Jesus, "that you have come out with swords and clubs to capture me? ESV 49 Day after day I was with you in the temple teaching, and you did not seize me. But let the Scriptures be fulfilled." NIV 49 Every day I was with you, teaching in the temple courts, and you did not arrest me. But the Scriptures must be fulfilled." ESV 50 And they all left him and fled. NIV 50 Then everyone deserted him and fled.
