Mark 15:17-27

RSV 17 And they clothed him in a purple cloak, and plaiting a crown of thorns they put it on him. NIV 17 They put a purple robe on him, then twisted together a crown of thorns and set it on him. RSV 18 And they began to salute him, "Hail, King of the Jews!" NIV 18 And they began to call out to him, "Hail, king of the Jews!" RSV 19 And they struck his head with a reed, and spat upon him, and they knelt down in homage to him. NIV 19 Again and again they struck him on the head with a staff and spit on him. Falling on their knees, they paid homage to him. RSV 20 And when they had mocked him, they stripped him of the purple cloak, and put his own clothes on him. And they led him out to crucify him. RSV 21 And they compelled a passer-by, Simon of Cyre'ne, who was coming in from the country, the father of Alexander and Rufus, to carry his cross. NIV 21 A certain man from Cyrene, Simon, the father of Alexander and Rufus, was passing by on his way in from the country, and they forced him to carry the cross. RSV 22 And they brought him to the place called Gol'gotha (which means the place of a skull). NIV 22 They brought Jesus to the place called Golgotha (which means The Place of the Skull). RSV 23 And they offered him wine mingled with myrrh; but he did not take it. NIV 23 Then they offered him wine mixed with myrrh, but he did not take it. RSV 24 And they crucified him, and divided his garments among them, casting lots for them, to decide what each should take. NIV 24 And they crucified him.
