Mark 16

WNT 1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary of Magdala, Mary the mother of James, and Salome, bought spices, in order to come and anoint His body. NIV 1 When the Sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, Mary the mother of James, and Salome bought spices so that they might go to anoint Jesus' body. WNT 2 So, very soon after sunrise on the first day of the week, they came to the tomb; NIV 2 Very early on the first day of the week, just after sunrise, they were on their way to the tomb WNT 3 and they were saying to one another, `Who will roll away the stone for us from the entrance to the tomb?" NIV 3 and they asked each other, "Who will roll the stone away from the entrance of the tomb?" WNT 4 But then, looking up, they saw that the stone was already rolled back: for it was of immense size. NIV 4 But when they looked up, they saw that the stone, which was very large, had been rolled away. WNT 5 Upon entering the tomb, they saw a young man sitting at their right hand, clothed in a long white robe. They were astonished and terrified. NIV 5 As they entered the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting on the right side, and they were alarmed. WNT 6 But he said to them, "Do not be terrified. It is Jesus you are looking for--the Nazarene who has been crucified. He has come back to life: He is not here: this is the place where they laid Him. NIV 6 "Don't be alarmed," he said. "You are looking for Jesus the Nazarene, who was crucified. He has risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid him. WNT 7 But go and tell His disciples and Peter that He is going before you into Galilee: and that there you will see Him, as He told you." NIV 7 But go, tell his disciples and Peter, 'He is going ahead of you into Galilee. There you will see him, just as he told you.' " WNT 8 So they came out, and fled from the tomb, for they were greatly agitated and surprised; and they said not a word to any one, for they were afraid. NIV 8 Trembling and bewildered, the women went out and fled from the tomb. They said nothing to anyone, because they were afraid. WNT 9 [But He rose to life early on the first day of the week, and appeared first to Mary of Magdala from whom He had expelled seven demons. NIV 9 When Jesus rose early on the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had driven seven demons. WNT 10 She went and brought the tidings to those who had been with Him, as they were mourning and weeping. NIV 10 She went and told those who had been with him and who were mourning and weeping. WNT 11 But they, when they were told that He was alive and that she had seen Him, could not believe it. NIV 11 When they heard that Jesus was alive and that she had seen him, they did not believe it. WNT 12 Afterwards He showed Himself in another form to two of them as they were walking, on their way into the country. NIV 12 Afterward Jesus appeared in a different form to two of them while they were walking in the country. WNT 13 These, again, went and told the news to the rest; but not even them did they believe. NIV 13 These returned and reported it to the rest; but they did not believe them either. WNT 14 Later still He showed Himself to the Eleven themselves whilst they were at table, and He upbraided them with their unbelief and obstinacy in not having believed those who had seen Him alive. NIV 14 Later Jesus appeared to the Eleven as they were eating; he rebuked them for their lack of faith and their stubborn refusal to believe those who had seen him after he had risen. WNT 15 Then He said to them, "Go the whole world over, and proclaim the Good News to all mankind. NIV 15 He said to them, "Go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation. WNT 16 He who believes and is baptized shall be saved, but he who disbelieves will be condemned. NIV 16 Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned. WNT 17 And signs shall attend those who believe, even such as these. By making use of my name they shall expel demons. They shall speak new languages. NIV 17 And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; WNT 18 They shall take up venomous snakes, and if they drink any deadly poison it shall do them no harm whatever. They shall lay their hands on the sick, and the sick shall recover." NIV 18 they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well." WNT 19 So the Lord Jesus after having thus spoken to them was taken up into Heaven, and sat down at the right hand of God. NIV 19 After the Lord Jesus had spoken to them, he was taken up into heaven and he sat at the right hand of God. WNT 20 But they went out and made proclamation everywhere, the Lord working with them and confirming their Message by the signs which accompanied it.] NIV 20 Then the disciples went out and preached everywhere, and the Lord worked with them and confirmed his word by the signs that accompanied it.
