NRS 21 They went to Capernaum; and when the sabbath came, he entered the synagogue and taught. CEB 22 The people were amazed by his teaching, for he was teaching them with authority, not like the legal experts. NRS 22 They were astounded at his teaching, for he taught them as one having authority, and not as the scribes. CEB 23 Suddenly, there in the synagogue, a person with an evil spirit screamed, NRS 23 Just then there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit, CEB 24 "What have you to do with us, Jesus of Nazareth? I know who you are, the Holy One of God." CEB 25 "Silence!" Jesus said, speaking harshly to the demon. "Come out of him!" NRS 25 But Jesus rebuked him, saying, "Be silent, and come out of him!" CEB 26 The unclean spirit shook him and screamed, then it came out. NRS 26 And the unclean spirit, convulsing him and crying with a loud voice, came out of him. CEB 27 Everyone was shaken and questioned among themselves, "What's this? A new teaching with authority! He even commands unclean spirits and they obey him!" NRS 27 They were all amazed, and they kept on asking one another, "What is this? A new teaching—with authority! He commands even the unclean spirits, and they obey him." CEB 28 Right away the news about him spread throughout the entire region of Galilee. NRS 28 At once his fame began to spread throughout the surrounding region of Galilee.
